News from Hollywood
By Barry Shulman, Card Player Chairman - 2005-04-07
This just in from La-La Land: popular Generation X comedienne, Janeane Garofalo has signed-on to play the lead in All-in, the sitcom based on the life of pro-poker player, Annie Duke.
More Hollywood news: a source close to those in the know has let it be known to me that the ESPN poker-series Tilt is not being brought back for a second season.
Man I know a lot of people didnt like Tilt but I thought it should be back for another season.

No one in the professional poker world liked how the casinos and the players were portrayed, so I'm sure some pressure was brought to bear. It's like what happened with "Playmakers" and the NFL. The NFL hated it, ESPN had a big contract with the NFL, so they killed it.

Did playmakers suck? 'Cause I think that was the main problem with Tilt.

But the whole cheating murky underworld take on the casinos actually adds to the mystique of poker no?
They had russian mafia in Rounders and that didn't seem to affect people's perception of poker.

Rounders wasn't produced by a network responsible for pushing the poker boom.
