Well at the end of summer I am gonna make a run at it. I am moving to AC to see if i can live by playing poker. I am not talken about walken into the casions and starting off as a highroller. I am gonna start of real slow. I plan to have a nice bankroll and to work my way up the ranks like levels of a game. The level being the limits of the games. I have been playing poker succesfully for 2 or 3 years. Any advice? By the way if i don't make it i am going back to college but you are only 21 once and if don't try it know it will eat at me for the rest of my life. I have only a few minor bills and no kids so its now or never. I also plan to work a side job(part time 4 awhile there to help with bills and food so poker money can be poker money)
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Good luck. Manage your bank roll wisely. Avoid the urge to move to a higher level just because you had one good day at a lower level. Quit when the cards turn on you. Don't chase money you have already lost. Don't be afraid to realize that you can't make it if things aren't going your way. Discipline. These are the things I learned the hard way over the last 10 years.

game selection
Don't test yourself to see if your realy "that good" play with the players you know you can beat. Get to know the pit bosses and ask them where the fish are tonight. If the like you (see tipping) they will put you at the good tables. remember your primary goal is to make $$ not to become the best player in the world. If you play long enough you will become good.
Good luck
