John,

I kind of get the idea,

but what do you mean by "gradient effect?"

Please elaborate.

Basically where they (the graphic designers) try and make a color blend from dark to light or light to dark. On the $5 Vineyard chip, it's red at the top of the chip and blends into a light pink at the bottom of the chip. You have to look pretty closely at the photos to see this effect, but in real life, it's very dramatic.

The idea behind it is cool....but for some reason it just doesn't work out well with ChipCo chips. It's not an issue specific to the Vineyards. What the 'effect' turns out looking like is that they ran out of ink halfway through printing the chip.

Hope that makes sense.

I'm kinda lost as to why these chips were necessary to begin with...

they are necessary because Ace ran out of paulson vineyards so he has to make more money somehow!

Well that's cool! If there's one thing I love, it's ceramic remakes of chips used at a shut-down casino!

Thanks John,

First off: I would say that the first Vineyards became too steep for the average Joe to purchase (this is nothing new, we all know this) due to supply/demand. I am with any other person who has posted here saying that they would never pay more than $1 per chip for anything. I wouldn't pay more than $1 for an old vineyard, new vineyard, old james bond, new james bond, NJ clay, or any other chip for that matter, that's just me. After $1, you might as well be playing with real money. Laughing

However, someone has invested alot of time, effort, heart and money into the Vineyard chips, both new and old. While some of us may not be interested in these, I would guess that they are nice chips, and will make somebody happy as a proud new owner, and yes Duma, will make somebody else some money in the process.

In addition: I myself (and most of us), do not have the time, knowhow, or resources to invent new chips. Therefore, I respect those like Tenpercenter, 'paulsonchips', MSPATTON and whoever else that, for whatever reason, does take the time and effort to bring new and innovative chips to the home market. Without people like these, I would not be waiting for the UPS truck in anticipation every couple of months, and I would still be playing with the crappy "slugs" that we all hate.
