How about.....Order the stock chips from pokerchips.com that are .35 cents each, and get a pit boss folding poker table. Then your getting nice chips and a pretty nice table.

buy some good chips and go to walmart and buy some felt to stretch over your table! (foam helps too)

I would rather play with crappy chips on a good table, because it is a huge PITA to handle cards and chips on a hard surface. But I would rather buy good chips and have a crappy table, because the table can always be remediated pretty cheaply (i.e. tack-on better padding and felt) later on, but crappy chips can't be remediated--they must be replaced, usually at a great cost.

I second spending the .35 cents each for the pokerchips.com circle/square mold solid chips (great chips for the money and not cheap by any means regardless of the price) and then dropping 2-300 on a nice table.
What is your budget? If it's $500 then you can easily get the pc.com chips and get a nice table at the same time.

Good cards and a good table make the game better/easier. Good cards last longer, are easier to shuffle, and are less prone to flipping over when being dealt. A good table allows for more players, is more comfortable, and makes the game run smoother by making it easier to lift cards and a rail prevents the cards/chips from falling off the table.
A good set of chips doesnt make the game run smoother or easier, but it sure does add that special something that many of us enjoy, bt we could still play the same game on a good table, with good cards and cheap Faux Dice chips (they arent slippery) as we could with expensive Paulsons.

well said, i originally voted for good chips, but I am switching my vote to good table.

the home game i play in has Target Chips or someother Genaric Fake Clay Chips on the Dinner Table.
with Buckets for Chair's You can tell where all young.
anyways there working on Making a new table right now to play Felt and all that.
which will be great but i hope they buy some New Chips also.
since the way we do it now All the Chips are worth the same thing.
which kinda sucks.

I built my table myself and it's pretty damn good for a first effort. It's nice to play on than any of the tables I have played on in clubs or casinos. I use Copags and my chips are plastics (composite) and aren't super but they stack ok, look ok and feel fine.
Makes for a good game. I think the bare minimum is that the cards are plastic, they move across the table fine, the chips stack well and can be counted easily and that the table is comfortable with a nice padded surface and ideally a rail.
