Playing a 5 dollar buy-in home game, usually 7-9 players, average players that are on the whole a little tighter than most. In the past, I've played real tight, never got many cards, I'd make a few moves to tread water, but eventually bust out close to the money or in third to get my buyin back. Few times if cards ran good and I hit some flops, I could coast into the money by just playing smart, solid poker and not doing anything spectacular. Tonight I figured I'd experiment with a few different things, and this hand came along, just curious what you guys think about it.
Blinds are .75 and 1.50, I'm a little under average stack. In the small blind with Q J , limpers from EP and MP, like to limp and see a lot of flops, button raises to 3.00 total, so I call since he only doubled the blind, planning on making a play at the pot if I hit the flop. BB called, limpers call, so 15 in the pot.
Flop is 9 K A . Not too bad. Checks around to the button, who throws out 3.25. Here's where I decide to be a goon and do something drastically different. I figure I've got 13 outs for the best hand, so I push all in, another 11, putting the button all in, hoping that if had a weak ace or a king and was just trying to take it down, he might even lay it down. He ends up calling with K9, pretty easy call, I got no help, and I bust out first and look like a chump.
I figure if I'm going to be trying out different kinds of plays just to see what works and what doesn't, a 5 dollar home game would be a pretty good place to try it out. I realize he had some real nice pot odds to call with a myriad of hands, but I also knew if I hit any of my outs I'd take it down easily and be in great shape. Now go on and rip my play to shreds.

Nah, your solid attitude and and concept of a bankroll should help you get better and successful as you play more.
I love the move, but except for one thing. . .this is a tourney where chips sometimes you have to avoid marginal situations like these so that you'll find a better place to put your money in.
FYI, you are playing w/11 outs (nine spades minus the king and 3 tens)
