Sorry, I have been a lurker here for a while and thought I would pipe up now...
I was at Turning Stone last night for a satellite tournament. And after that tournament, I had time to sit in on some games.
First, I sat at a 1/3 table, my normal table and was really getting annoyed at the characters at my table, so I got up and left to take a walk and observe some other games...
Now comes a 2/4 table that I occasionally sit in on and there is an opening, so I sit there for a while waiting for a 3/6 to open up. I figured what the hell and play it... At the 2/4 I did OK, but I was really waiting to move up.
Not 15 minutes later, a seat open on 3/6 and I moved over to that table. Ohh what a joy it was! The people(except one person) were much better to play with as compared to a 1/3(circus game). I felt like they were playing legit rather than the "its only $1 or $3" while holding their 2x 7x unsuited.
I came out double my money in a short time and ppicked up and left, it was 1am and I had to work in the AM, hehehe..
Comments are welcome.

3/6 is generally considered the level at which poker becomes a 'proper' game rather than a what-the-hell-it's-only-money kinda game so I'd hang around there if I were u...... Welcome to the boards too, we like to encourage our lurkers in

3/6 real poker??? I think there is really something wrong with Louisiana (where I live). 3/6 should be real poker, but over here it is the lowest limit game at a casino and therefore a joke. It is where all the rich people's wives play or where the beginner's play. Sadly, for a good casino game 10/20 is the true game where real players play here. I wish though that people at the 3/6 would play right because minimum buy-in at 200 for the 10/20 is a bit expensive. Friends and I like 2/4 for our home games, but then again we play quality poker unlike the clowns at the casinos.

I find that where I play, I make more money at 2/4 (lowest limit), but that I enjoy the 3/6 game much more. 2/4 you need to babysit rookies who just read a book and think they are the greatest. 3/6 players make more predictable moves and play more solid poker.
Funny story though, last time I was at a live game some rookie (obvious in the 1st 30 seconds) sat down w/ $200. It was gone in 15 minutes. TWICE(2 different hands) he repeatedly reraised and capped the betting w/ KJ overcards to the board. Each time someone had flopped the set and beat his K high. The sad thing was he showed his cards both times, I guess he didnt know that he could have mucked and saved himself the embarrassment.

It really depends on where you are. Trump up in Gary Indiana just opened a room and they have a "little" game (3/6). It's the "circus" up here.
