5/9=How long to get custom inlays done from pc.com? |

Hello All,
I am having a set of chips made
with custom inlays from pokerchips.com.
I know that many people on this site have done the same
thing. I started this back on Mar 2nd and am still doing emails trying
to get the inlays right. All in all I've asked for about a 4 changes to the
original artwork. (honestly nothing major) I get about one response a week and sometimes it's every week and a half. I think the whole thing could have been done in a day and sent to the presses.
When I have called they tell me that it's very busy and Natalie is working
on my order.
I just want to know if this has been the normal time frame for custom inlays?
Have you called and emailed more than once a week?
Sorry for the little rant but it's been a little frustrating.
Thanks in advance.

You have to be patient if you want them done your way. They are working on a lot of sets at the same time and are doing the best they can. Ive never ordered from there but i hear its 4 months or so.

Natalie works in the same office as the sales women, so just ask to speak to her directly. I called her quite a few times. I think in the end she just wanted to get my artwork done because I kept calling her to point out her mistakes.
Be nice and (relatively) patient, but go right to the source.

That's for chip production itself. That timeframe only starts after the artwork has been finalized. Depending on their backlog, it can be anywhere from 8-16 weeks. I think they're around 10-12 weeks right now.
AFAIK, they really don't give timeframes for artwork.

It can be frustrating, but all in all I'd say it's worth it. My order started around January 27th and I finalized the artwork on Feb 25th. I'm told my chips should be completed by the end of this month.
Based on the number of orders that I have seen (browsing through their artwork area) they are telling the truth about being very busy. Keep on them about getting your changes done and then have patience. I've essentially tried to forget I placed the order in order to keep my sanity during the wait time.

I was told by pc.com that the clock starts ticking from the date of the order, not when the artwork is complete. Then I received an email Friday stating that they were backloged and to be patient for my artwork and that the artwork would not effect my deadline of 10 weeks.

Thank you all for your responce. I can tell that what I'm goin through is normal.
I was told that the artwork phase will not impact the manufacture phase.
They are to different things.

I just received an email letting me know tha Natalie no longer works at pokechips.com and that Cathy will take over my order.
I guess this is one of the reasons why things were taking so long.
I hope this is a good thing.

Heh man they eat graphic artists.
This is like their 4th in about 8 moths or so. The work load they dump on them is pretty crazy though.
I didn't like Natalie, she had an attitude whenever I spoke to her.

I finally approved my artwork last week. It had been months of ongoing headaches. They promised me just some basic bulldog images to chose from originally to start thing out. I got exactly one image. No choices. I was kind of pissed, but I actually liked it. It actually changed my outlook on what I was going to do. I have zero artistic ability, so I thought this is a good start. She actually spelled it wrong when we gave specific instructions on the wording which should have been a sign of more trouble. We asked her to correct the spelling & center the writing. That took a week & the centering still wasn't right. Then we asked for her to lighten the brindle spots on the bulldog. Another week. Now this had been about 6 weeks at this point. My wife did all the calling & called often. We even sent gift bags to Natalie & the 2 customer service reps with all kinds of nail/lotion junk(perk from my wife's job) right when we ordered. I'm talking at least $40 of stuff in each bag & plus the shipping. That was my bright idea. That did exactly zip, zero, nata . . . to the process. I figured grease the wheels a little bit. So at approximately 2 months from the time we placed the order, Natalie's gone. Finally the new person starts doing it. She's a real winner. We ask for minor changes including finally centering the writing properly & she harps that this is the 4th change. My wife was kind of pissed then. It took her a few days to make the minor changes we needed, but it finally happened. The entire process took 2 months for artwork approval, but it could have been done in a few days. Now the only promise we get is that the we should have the chips by the beginning of July. I can't wait to get them, but it was a very frustrating experience.

Hello All,
Well after a couple of weeks of emails and calls regarding my order;
here is the latest info. As you know Natalie quit several weeks ago.
I was informed (after I call them!) by Cathy that my order was being
turned over to Kim. Kim called me after several days and asked me to send her the last information I had sent to Natalie. (UGH) so I dug up the
email and sent it to her. She also told me that there is just her and another person doing the artwork for PC.com She said that she is in the process of training a new person. I hope that person comes on line quickly for her sake AND all the customers. On a side note; Kim has been very kind and responsive to my request. She sent me the final proofs today and I emailed her my approval.
I'm not sure of how long the delay will be before the chips are shipped.
I've waited this long to get what I want and I guess I can wait a little Longer.
The final proofs is the last set of pic's

Very nice. I especially like the $100 chip with the Ace,Ten watermark behind the A 10. Except why different font on the 100 than the 1,5 and 25?
