A program that tracks all of your stats (VPIP, showdowns won, how much you've won/lost with every starting hand, pretty much every stat that exsists). It also tracks your oppoents' stats.

I don't use it, although I'm sure it's an excellent program. I'm a pokeredge man.

just two questions though... how much? and giv'it to me...

seriously though... are these programs really worth it to get?... what sites to they work with?...how much do they generally run for... which would be the better one to get?

Depends.

Pokeredge
-only works with party/empire network
-better for tracking oppoents
-$10/month low stakes; $20/month high stakes

Pokertracker
-works for way more sites (not sure exactly which ones but a lot of them)
-tracks individual stats very
-$50--one time fee (I'm pretty sure that's what it is anyway)

All in all pokertracker is probably the better investment. Both are easily worth it if you play enough.

I have pokertracker now, but it's a copy I . . . found. I haven't played since getting it, I've kind of been in the 'poker hospital.'

where would one purchase such a program... or maybe even "find" one of my own...

Posted Sun Apr 24, 2005 1:34 am GMT by JohnnyCache
You can buy it from their website. I don't think they sell it in any other format.

Yeah, it's at their website of the same name.

I use pokertracker and I quite like it. What stats are you trying to interpret Sal? I'm always game to use it in ways I haven't used it before. :D

I use it religiously. It is very helpfull in finding tables populated with players of specific styles.

Some say to play tables full of players less experienced than yourself. That puts you with a bunch of fish which, while profitable in the long run, is very frustrating in the short run. It also limits you to the micro limit games i.e. $1/$2 to $3/6.

Others say that in order to use any kind of even remotely sophisticated strategy you must play against good players at $10/$20 tables minimum. That requires a larger bankroll than most players, including myself, have amassed yet.

AND, the stats won't (I'm told) really mean anything until you've played around 10,000 hands. By that time you may have lost your bankroll, house, wife, dog or sanity only to find out you're not aggressive enough.

In conclusion, I'm against anything that can improve my opponents' play. Except that better players tend to fold to my bluffs while fish keep chasing the inside straight through capped bets to the river. More information is always better and Pokertracker gives you a ton of information about yourself and your opponents.

That applies to win rate. Meaningful stats about VPIP, aggression, etc can be obtained in a few hundred hands.

I have been reading some hand histories over at that techincal site and have started thinking it might not be a bad idea to start using pokertracker. At first I agreed that its a crutch and won't help me win live games, but the more I think about it, it should help me win more money online. Isn't that a major reason we play too?

I can only "find" a copy of it for version 2.06.02 not the current 2.06.04 Crying

There is another tool that came out recently called isuckatadvertising. It's has a large database and a nice interface.

It supports Cash/Tourney games for Party/Empire network.
