My friend that works there told me yesterday that their 54 table poker room should be open in beginning/mid July.

Sorry if it's old news.

I'm kind of excited, seems like a lot of tables. Maybe Sean would know how many the Trop has for comparison, because I'm guessing it'll be around the same size.

That sounds like it's gonna be a bit bigger than the Trop. Tropicana has between 40 and 45 tables, I'd say. Borgata is supposedly expanding their room already as well.

50+ tables are gonna require a whole bunch of dealers. Might be a little frustrating to play there early on.

Oh, of course, but I'm guessing I'll go there once in July to check it out. Give it a month or two to settle down or whatever.

Hopefully they'll spread a variety of games.

I was told that the Poker room was on hold. They were going to expand Harrah's Poker room and put The Price is Right studio where the Poker room was going to be

Yeah, I asked my friend that, he said it wasn't the case, and the The Price is Right is there and ready to go, and the poker room is slated for July.

The Price is Right set would be a lot bigger than a 50-table poker room, unless it was just a huge room.

Ok, so I went to meet up with my dad last night to hit up the buffet at the Showboat, and it was actually opening night for the poker room. I didn't get to play because I had other stuff to do for the night, plus they hadn't even opened by the time I left.

Very nice looking room, it's in the House of Blues area, upstairs, away from the rest of the gaming areas. I counted 24 tables, a far cry from what I was told there were going to be, but definitely big enough. The chairs were the nicest I've seen at any casino, and the tables looked real nice (except they have the WSOP logos on the tables which I thought was a little tacky) but everything was new so of course it looked nice. The sign up counter was very fancy looking, and directly in front of you when you walk in.

The only odd thing I though were that there are big holes in the wall to look into the poker room, but with no glass in them, I don't know if this will be added later or not, but I could see a potential noise problem when people are going to concerts and stuff, since an entrance to the House of Blues is directly across from it.

When I left they only had one game running, which looked to be a 1/2 NL table, but it was still 15 minutes before their official opening.

All in all, I can't wait to ge there to play some poker.

Ok, seemingly, no one cares too much, but I'll post up a little review, then I'll stop bumping this thread up.

Played 2/4 there last night. They had one 1-5 stud game running, 3 2-4 holdem tables, 1 3/6 holdem table, 3 1-2 NL tables, and 1 10-20 holdem table.

The room is very nice, the flat panel LG TVs were a really good addition. There were only about 9 tables running so drink service was pretty fast, and the nice thing is that you can ask for specific beers, and they will bring them in bottles, as opposed to other rooms where you are just getting cheapo beer. The felt on the tables turned out to be really annoying. It's red, so red chips and red cards fade into it slightly, which is ok for me, but it seems like the old guys sitting around me had problems reading the board and stuff. Also there is the WSOP graphic on the felt with ACES in it...so when the flop is out you have these aces out there, which was very aggravating.

Dealers were all new, so play was slow, and there were a couple of mistakes. I felt bad for one dealer because he looked so anxious dealing, and he even said sitting down that it was his first night so he was real nervous. The table had automatic shufflers which was nice, it would make for real speedy play once the dealers get up to par. And I don't know if it was because it is a new room or not, but the play was just insanely weak, even for a 2/4 table. I ended up a 100 on the night, but should have probably been a little bit more than that.

So, all in all, the Trop is still my room of choice, but give this one a couple of months and it will definitely be second on my list.
