Straight & flush draw vs. top set

I don't have the hand history for this, but heres how it went down ...
Middle position, 1 limper, I have QQ and raise to 5x BB, SB calls and limper calls

Flop comes 89Q, two diamonds. They check to me, and I bet 6x BB and both call.

Turn comes another diamond (three maybe?), they check to me and I check in fear of somebody check raising me.

River comes a jack of spades ... SB checks, middle position bets 10x BB and I know im dead ... (SB folds btw)

He turns over 810 of hearts.

Do you guys usually bet the turn here? I mean, what can I do to get rid of a semi-crap hand like that?

By my calculations the pot on the flop is 15bb. You only bet 6bb, with both straight and flush possibilities. Bet at least the pot on the flop. If the turn is a blank, push. If you fill up on the turn, let them fish. I'd check if the turn was a scare card.
