Heads up button help?

Posted Sun Apr 24, 2005 9:25 pm GMT by Rounder Wannabe
just to clear the confusion me and the people playing poker this weekend had about who has the button when its heads up? I have heard/read conflicting rules, so i need clarification...

Heads up..

1. Is the BB on the button? or is SB on the button?

2. Who acts first preflop?

3. Who acts last every round of betting thereafter?

Any other tidbits of info for buttong help heads up would help. thanks

As far as I know (played heads up many times)...

1. First after dealer (= button) will be the SB... therefore Dealer BB.

The rest according to the "normal"rules, so

2. SB here first to "act" preflop.

The last one to act is the first to call.. or did I miss something in your question?

small blind is dealer.. big blind is not dealer... person with the dealer button acts first after every round

SB is on the button, acts first preflop, and second post-flop.

The dealer is the big blind therfore giving him the advantage of going last preflop and after the flop.

This is the correct one.

This comes from Caro and Cooke's Rules of Real Poker.

HEAD'S UP.
In head's-up play, the small blind shall be posted by the player with the button and the large blind by the other player. The player who does not have the button shall be dealt the first card, and shall be the first to act on all betting rounds except the initial round. On the initial betting round, because the big blind in effect has already acted, the player on the button who has posted the small blind shall be first to act.

Just to reconfirm, because on online forums you can never have enough people chime in, and the fact that I want to pad my post count, this is indeed, the correct answer.
