Anyone have thoughts on this? My take, or the alternate title of this thread would be, "John D'Agostino: Crybaby Loser". With a chip lead of that size and the cards going his way that much, I would have thought he could win the tournament. But no, he risked significant portions of his stacks on several hands where it really was not called for. Now, I understand as much as anyone that the chip leader has to lean on the smaller stacks, but positional rules still apply--why would you want to give away chips unnecessarily by playing things like Q 10 in early position on a nine-handed table?
In the hand he lost to QQ, I have no idea what he was thinking. You take a stab at it once, but when it doesn't work, you don't continue. That play cost him the tournament, in my opinion.
Then there's the bad beat... 78o from Hoyt Corkins that leaves him with one chip. Yeah, it's a bad beat and it would have happened to any of us, but he wouldn't have been out if he hadn't flushed his chips with that KQ earlier. And yes, I can understand him being upset, but show a little class and leave your chips stacked, man.

I think that would qualify as "cruel and unusual."

I think it was a combination of bad play and bad luck. He was just playing to many hands, but he did have a lot of bad beats. It was a good tourney though and good to watch but he was not very smart when he got to the final table.

What happend to JDags is a lesson to you all.....
Do not CALL OFF chips kids......
with a chip stack...you be first...you be the aggressor.
He just called off a ton of chips in spots where he was going to be a clear underdog.....
Also calling with TT...(to Hoyt Corkins Allin 87o)...even though he read him perfectly.....(he had the best hand)....he was calling for his tournament life...and he was banking it on a measily pair of tens.....what if Hoyt had QJ? If you have an edge...why gamble it?
That was stupid.....
If it were me...I would look at Hoyt...and say: "Hoyt...I got the best hand....but I ain't flippin coins for this championship."
