I finally win a live tournament!!!

I went to the tropicana in AC on Monday 04/25/05 for the $20 + $10 rebuy and add-on tourney. I register and proceed to quickly lose $600 in cash games an about 45 minutes. Bad beats galore. My set of kings losing to a miracle runner runner...4 on the board, a three in his hand flush, etc.

Anyway, feeling a little depressed, I enter the tourney. I was on fire in the beginning, first twelve hands, I had a set of sevens, big slick four times and bullets. I had $70 total invested in the tourney. The first rebuy before the game starts and the add-on after the first hour.

Gets down to 5 people, and like most tourneys, we chop. After tipping the dealers, I walked away with $1,100. Not bad for a small tourney!!

You're getting huge hands and playing great, yet you decide to chop 5 way? May I ask why and what would 5th place have paid?

The blinds were just increasing to fast. I had about $120,000 in chips. the blinds were about to increase to 20,000 to 40,000.

5th paid 427....2nd was like 1,500 and 1st was like 2,600. The way I looked at it, unless you truly beleived you were going to win, it made perfect sense to chop.

Also, I had to be at work 8:30 am the next morning, I had a 2 hour ride to get back home and we decided to chop around 1:00 am.

Next time (hopefully this weekend) no chopping!!!

ya, that doesnt sound like abad spot to chop in. You are going to have 3X the BB and unless you get up to third place then you wont get that much money.
