Just heard-Treasure Island NL tourney $125 buy in 500 people and it looks like 10k will go to a WSOP seat and $50k prize money.
Register at box office or by phone. I dont see making it, but this looks like a great opportunity for us upper midwesterners for a large lower buyin NL tourney.

I was at the Mirage May 7-9. All kinds of WPT craziness going on there. 2 am on a Sunday night and the room had a wait list.

Busted out in 78th
Pocket 10's on the button. Raised about 1/3 of my stack to chase the limpers out of the hand and hopefully steal the pot. One caller. Flop 2-10-K. $1000 bet to me. I go over the top all in with about $3500. Called - shows AA.
Turn Q
River J
I'm out to a straight. :x
Been stewing over it, but have came to the conclusion I would not change my play givien a second chance.
Treasure Island put on a Very Well Run tourney. Hope they decide to open a card room soon.
Good Luck tonight Dave, I'll be rooting for ya.

26th for me. I literally had NOTHING to play with. I won 2 pots in my big blind w/ J7 to keep me going and won when the big blind had me all in w/ k6 vs 23.
I was REALLY pissed off on my way home when I went over my last hand. I was down to 1400 and antes were 300, gotta move. I had Q4 and decide Q high was enough. Blinds were 2000/4000, I was 5 off the big blind. What handcuffed me all night was the stupid overweight old lady that called just about every hand and EVERY all in and kept getting lucky. She called all ins w/ k7 suited (because "I like diamonds"), 10 7, K 3 and won each one. They were BIG all ins too 4-5x the BB.
So, Q4, I call, she calls, no surprise there, and big blind calls. Flop J84 2 clubs, nice, I have a pair. It is checked around. Turn 10 clubs, not a good card, but not death yet-checked around, sweet. River Q, cool, 2 pair she bets 6000, big blind calls. She shows AQ, he has 24 clubs for the flush.
So, what do you all do, limp w/ AQ w/ blinds 2000/4000 antes 300 (8 handed) and about 16000 in chips left? She raises anything, that big blind folds and I take down 1/3 of the blinds and the antes.
Anyway, I got junk all night, worst run at a tourney ever.
A10 once-folded to preflop raise 4x BB-someone called w/ A10 and turned the nuts to take out AK.
A 9 once-limped flop 876 w/ 2 , bet pot win
K10x2-limped once, folded once
77-limped early in tourney, folded
A7-folded preflop, flop A73 river J, AJ won, I would have been rivered
55 flopped set-no action
33 folded
22 late, one preflop raiser, I folded but showed the folders before my that were not in a hand-dealer takes my cards and says "show one, show all". I politely pointed out that there was still action and none of the players in the hand saw my hand. She was quite embarrassed.
That was it. Junk all night. Several times on the short stack I would have moved in w/ J7, but someone went all in or raised preflop before me. Even the junk I folded, I wouldnt have hit on. Just nothing working.
The only hand I question my play on is 23 in the big blind. Blinds 500/1000, one tight solid player (rare in this tourney) and the small in the pot. Antes were 50 (I think). Flop comes J52 rainbow, I have 6k in chips and bet 2250 (2/3 pot) solid player calls, small folds. I check in the dark, turn 6, he goes all in. I fold. I feel like he might have been stealing, but tough to call at this point.
Anyway, well run tourney, so close. Players were dropping like flies, but I only had 4 hands until I was anted out. If I didnt move soon, I would have need to win 2 hands instead of one to survive.
Still angry and that stupid lucky old lady for not raising AQ at that point. My only solice is that she was now short stacked and may not have made it past her blinds.

Dave I just wanted to say I'm sorry I know how it feels. But I also wanted to say thank you for posting the info on the tourny without it I or my wife would not have made it in. And on that note I would like to give a big congratz to my wife for playing so well and taking 5th i'm proud of you. It also sounds like they will be having another one in like 2 weeks.

Wife got 5th? Really? That was like $4-5k right? Nice work. I know most of the players at the start of the 1st round were poor, but most of the ones still in it when I was busted out seemed pretty solid.
I hope she freerolls you for round 2!
Congrats to her :D

Congrats to your wife Pokerjester!
Just out of curiosity....... I had what I thought was a good female poker player at my table to start the tourney. Was your wife at table 10, seat 5 to start the first round on Tuesday?
Looking forward to the next one.
