WSOP 2004 ... very disapointed.

Hi,
after watching the whole season 1 of World Poker Tour, I decided maybe I could try another show. Lets see, World Series Of Poker 2004 ? Well, I could give a shot. At the end, after watching the 2004 final table, I can clearly say I was very disapointed about that show. I was thinking about buying the whole tournament DVD but forget it, it's a way too boring.

I very dislike the way this show is made up. Too much "cowboy style" and they are only showing hands where someone gets busted. Wow, and they dare to say that the weird guy with glasses "played the best poker in his life", I just can't buy that. All I remember from him is calling anything with almost anything and getting ultra lucky. AT vs AA, AQ vs AA, 55 vs KQ, you name it. Even I can do that. I don't say this guy is a bad poker player, I just say they sell it very badly. The final table was... showing 15-20 hands ? I've almost never seen a fold or goods poker moves. It was "all-in", "call", "all-in", "call", "all-in", "call"... well, I think a lot of player played it very badly. Anyway, this show looks too much like a "sport new flash" to me. If I want to watch a hockey game, I'll watch the game, not the sport news the next day.

On the good side, however, this show doesn't teach patience so newbies will learn that a good player gets always good cards and / or they'll learn to play every hand...

Well, I think I'm sticking to the World Poker Tour. A lot more entertainement.

Thanks

i feel the other way around.

Fossel man is a decent player.

also Its the whole turny instead of just the final Six players

Yeah, I'm sure he's a great player. My comments were negative about the show and not about that man. I said they were selling the idea very badly by only showing the hands were someone got busted. In other words, they are showing when someone makes a mistake or when they get lucky/unlucky so it's hard to tell if someone made good moves or not.

my 2 cents

As i recall the 2004 final table did not last long at all in real time, so i guess what they showed was pretty much how it went down.
When you get to a final table and one guy has, what was it? 15 mill in chips compared to 2 or 3 of the others, you will get a lot of all ins, both from him and the other players trying not to let him be able to bully them.

As for your taste....... well some people prefer WPT some prefer WSOP, just a matter of taste i spose.
