Ummm.... seems pretty straight forward. You lost a bunch of money to villain hoping to catch a straight or flush that didnt materialize. Sure you had a bunch of outs and top pair after the flop. I probably would have done the same.
So what did you want to know?

I don't know about the turn call, unless you put him on unpaired high cards and were going to take a stab at the river if something non-threatening hit. I don't think your implied odds are all that strong. I question whether you get paid on a spade; an 8 might be the only card that'll garner you more chips.

Ooops... wait. You didnt have top pair after the flop. I would have bailed after that bet on the turn. I "might" have made the call on the flop depending on if my chip stack was up or down.

It was a very poor play, which was kind of hte reason i put it up.
Any suggestion on how much to raise the flop or turn?
BTW, i had no read on this guy cuz he sat down about 2-3 hands ago. Seemed a little weak tight if that helps.

Well... with him already raising the flop to $15, that kind of steals your thunder. Personally, I would hate to reraise on the hopes of hitting a monster flop. Then again, there is that old adage of raise or fold. I have trouble reraising though and I think thats one of the holes in my game. Anyway, I would have probably made the mistake you did of just calling and hoping.
Naturally, the flop put you in the same situation I always end up in when trying to catch something big with mediocre cards... A decent drawing hand against an aggressive bettor. This is something I am REALLY trying to get better at avoiding by tightening up preflop.

If you're gonna raise, better to do it on the flop than the turn. I might try making it $120 or $125 straight, which will cost him about 25% of his remaining stack if I figure it right. You should find out real quick what he thinks of his hand.

thanks sean.
I felt like throwing up after the hand.
I came up w/the same line as I was thinking about it a couple nights ago. I should've raised a $100 on top and be willing to gamble if he comes over the top. I should've taken the lead on the flop.
A turn raise might worked if he was a tighter player willing to fold but that would've meant he needs to fold JJ or 10 10 there.
This was a new cardroom and i'm not familiar w/the regulars so it was a little hard for me to gauge my opponenet's hand. My calling didn't help either.

I NEVER leave a lot of money on the table! I always give it to my opponents!
