in a $40 MTT NL hold'em tourney. Did well by playing very tight/aggressive the first 3 hours and went from 2k to 9k in chips and decided I needed to change pace and call some things that should be easy to fold just to make it look like I am playing hands.
I call with 2 9 offsuit and it makes it with no raises expecting to fold after the flop on any bet.
flop: 9 9 2 with a flush draw. I check and the only player with more chips at the table bets out for 2k and i call so we are heads up.
turn is a 3rd spade. I call, he raises 5k, I go all-in, and he calls instantly.
He flops big slick of spades. I say nice but you are drawing dead. The whole table groans when I show a 9 2. Doubled up to 18k in chips and coasted to a 3rd place finish after I could not get any cards at the final table.

LOL. I was playing a 48 person MTT at a bar last night. Down to 8 people. Guy to my left has only 1,200 in chips with average at 9,000. He says he's going all in blind.
Two places over another guy calls all in, I guess to isolate him. I look down at 9 4 of spades. I was tempted to call since it was getting late and first place was only $100. Just couldn't do it.
Short stack flips over 9 4 and the caller had cowboys.
Flop 9, 4, x
Turn x
River x
LOL, the 9 4 won. If I would have called out of wanting to go home, I would have doubled up from the side pot. LOL.
Wound up going out 4th and I won a t-shirt for 4.5 hours of play. LOL.
