Let's say, for example, that I live in a state where gambling is illegal (yes, they do still exist )...
I play online and win a big tourny...let's dream big and say the big $1 MIL at UB...
I would think this would attract the attention of not only the IRS, but the SBI or whoever handles gambling infractions in this state...
Any thoughts?

Maybe that's one of the reasons UB has their big tournaments on a boat in Aruba. You sure are allowed to gamble there. Its legally no different than going to Vegas and gambling.

If gambling is illegal in your state, is it also illegal to gamble online? I live in PA and I signed up for Party Poker. I put that my state was PA. If it were illegal wouldn't they stop me from registering by kicking back an error or something?

It's fuzzy. . . on the one hand, the gambling is going on physically where the server is . . . so it's like off-track betting or calling in a bet on an event. . . but in another sense, the social problems gambling is alledged to cause, if factual, would occur in the home state . . . it's a muddy issue and the laws are still a little gray.
