post your greatest achievement

Posted Fri May 06, 2005 6:47 am GMT by AAceman
Hello everybody.
As the Post says, post your greatest achievement.
I thought this will make for a fun read for everybody.

Personally i could use some nice stuff to read since im bored out of my skull here at work. This forum makes for a nice distraction.

My greatest achievement is to beat 6 tourneys in a row. All 10+1 dollar SNGs. Sometimes u just get so friggin lucky it gets scary. u flop some boats and straights and a lot of folks start betting, on those says i just play non-stop poker..

Winning a $20+2 NL Hold'em tourny 1573 Entrants. Took home a cool $6600.

By the time I hit the final table, I had 4x the stack that 2nd place had. I proceeded to knock out all but 2 players.

Cashing out 1445 from 5/10 at my local casino in a matter of a few hours. Walking in with 200. Then throwing the $45 on roulette and going up another 400 or so.

Losing 3 sit and go's in a row by being rivered. First one my KK is up against his JJ. All in preflop. 4 Blanks then a J. Second time someone else rivers me with a inside staight draw. Third time I have AKo vs. TT. I'm allin preflop. Flop 3-6-K, so I'm happy, turn 2, river... 10, this also completes another guys straight. So I was double-rivered. I was playing in a NL$25 Hold'em ring game and tilt being what it was, I kept raising someone who was raising me. I had AJo and he had KK. Lost everything Sad

How could a guy pull a straight on the river???

Board: 3-6-K-2-T ???

The T doesn't make a straight for anything.

Both, kind of...............

You have to know who to play against at the table and who not to. There are definitely fish at every table; even if it doesn't seem that obvious.

Low suited connectors can be a steamroller to someone who doesn't expect them. I'll call 20 pre-flop with 5,6 suited in certain situations. 20 is easy to shrug off if you don't hit, but if you do you're money!!

Plus, I raise ALLOT pre flop. I don't mean money wise, I mean often. So I get callers after a while who would normally never call with not so good cards. And when I've raised with a big pp or big slick they're not expecting it. They're expecting me to have the garbage I raised with the last few times.

Raising it 10 pre flop 3 hands (that I'm in) in a row and folding on the flop is money when I raise it the same 10 with big slick and get 4 callers. Then check it on the flop and re-raise it HUGE after multiple callers. The pot pulled in that one hand is well worth losing the 30 previous.

Your right about that. I don't play that way but have seen it in action and it definitly works. This guy was just pounding the table. Naturally the chat window was full of flames but he completely ignored it. I thought it was funny that they were giving him so much grief about being such a lousy player but he made a HUGE amount of money while I was watching. Thankfully I just played really really tight and managed to skin a couple big pots out from under him.

I may need to try this method on a low stakes table and see if I can get the hang of it.

I've been playing (live and online) religously about 3 times a week for about 3-4 years now. Playing loose is the way to go against tight players. It's the only way to make a decent amount of money.

But like I said; you have to know when you can do it and who to do it against.

If I'm on the big bling and the first to act has raised it a decent amount and there are multiple callers I will gladly call with low suited connectors. You have to figure you're up against pp's and big cards............what better to crack them over the head with than low suited connectors? Shocked

Not getting drunk every night. Confused
Just kidding....I do get drunk every night. Laughing

Non poker-related...finding and marrying the best man in the world. Awwww Embarassed

Poker-related, I think it was making $1000 at $1/2 NL in AC in one night and outplaying all the little college boys who were on spring break. One guy in particular I waited for an hour to break. He had been bullying the table, raising every pot, etc. I had gotten a read on his hands by his raise amounts just from observation. This hand, I was BB. He's 4 players to my right. It folds to him and he raises to $25. The button calls. I just knew he had big slick. I look down to see 44. I'll see a flop. I call.
Flop
2 3 4 (rainbow) Sweet he has 4 outs unless he's suited.
I check, he bets pot, button folds, I reraise, he calls.
Turn
8 (not the same suit as any other card)
I check, he bets pot, I reraise, he calls.
River
J
I bet pot and he comes over top all-in. I knew I had him. I call immediately and say "Show me your AK". He flips over AJ (well, I was close Confused ). I show my trips. Gotcha! Twisted Evil
He didn't get involved with me in but one other pot and he lost that one too. He left shortly thereafter.

That night stands out more than most because my read was impeccable. I only made one misread on one player and I got lucky and caught and won that hand too.

My greatest achievement in poker, was without a doubt, finishing 2nd place in a live tournament in my city in some cafe/bar/horse race place. there were 50 contestants... i ended up on the final table heads up.. finished 2nd

early in the tourney i was kinda going out like broom corns uncle, i picked up 77.. someone raises, i go all in.. he calls. he had 10-K. my 7 hit on the flop.. i doubled up

a little later i pick up AA and raise it big pre-flop.. one caller (my friend's girlfriend who were also there playing in the tourney, she called).. flop came something like J-K-5... i bet big.. she called. on the turn i moved all in. she called and showed kings and a straight draw or something.. i took down that huge pot.

i was now a big stack on the table and i pick up JJ... i decided to limp in with them.. (my buddies behind me didnt approve at all) i get one caller.. onl;y rags on the flop.. no suited problems. so i bet big, he calls, turn still only under cards and i bet bigger... dude calls again. river i bet another big amount, he called yet again. i turn over my jackies and he mucks his hadn "i dont have that" he said

after this i was a huge stack within the tourney.. i got replaced to another table for a little while, blinds were now huge plus big antes... like 20 players left.. final table of 10 got payed... so i was kind of laying low on that new table getting a feel of the new players. i was just picking up some blinds here and there waiting for more players to be eliminated... and so there were 10 of us left, i got reseated on my original table which was the final playing table.. there was me with a big ass stack of chips, like 3 more who had a big stack, and like 6 guys who were very shortstacked.

at one moment i pick up 5-5... a dude in front of me who had a big stack went all in.. i was pretty scared at this moment.... i was on the brink of folding but i called him. he flips over A-6... luckily my 5 hit right on the flop.. BOOYAA... his huge ass chipstack was forwarded to me and i was now chip leader on the final table by far.. some shortstacks got knocked out.. then i pick up A-Q.. some guy who had been annoying me for the whole tourn ey went all in.. he had a somewhat small stack (compared to mine at least).. i call. he had 4-4... luckily my A came on the river. now there were like 4 of us left me being in a sick chip lead... my brother and friends who also played but were knocked out were standing at the other side of the table ecouraging me. then some shortstack went all in ... i look down and see A-K.. bang i knocked him out there... so 3 of us left.. the 2 other guys went all in against each other and now it was heads up. our stacks were pretty much equal mine being a bit bigger..

we danced a couple of tmies picking up some pots here and there until i picked up A-10, he moved all in and showed me A-4... i thought "oh my god the tourney is MINE"... but the flop came in the worst possible way: 2-3-5... this guy flopped a straight.. bang, all my chips went to him except for a couple.. of course i did not get back up..

anyways, 2nd place payed me €325.. which is about $385..

i bought a round of drinks for my friends and that was that..

8)
