havent played at a live casino before- do you typically tip the dealer when you are done playing for the night, or after each pot you win?
also is this done with chips or cash or does it not matter?
thanks

I typically tip if I win a pot. Just a buck or two.. with a chip. There are some that don't tip at all, and others that have pot size requirements. I always tip. And, if he gave me a real nice rush of cards, like the dude that gave me my first royal, among other things, he got a very large tip at the end of his session.

I generally try to figure out how much my tips are costing me each night, and I certainly wouldn't ever tip more than a dollar or two at a time. Many times, I'll tip the dealer $3 or so as he/she is leaving, just so I'm sure of how much I'm shelling out. When I have a larger roll, I'm more apt to tip, though.

No rake, no tip (if you just grab the blinds) ... the dealers understand this. I play a 3/6 game and usually tip a buck per pot for most. When the pot gets above 80, I'll usually toss two chips, or I'll toss two if I rivered my opponent and the pot was decent ... this is just because I'm feeling so giddy. The most I've ever tossed was 5, but this was for a $250 kill pot I took down. I notice that several regular players tip with 50 cent coins, but I find this too cheap.

I usually tip when I win a pot with the exception of a pot consisting only of blinds. My usual tip is a $1 chip. If the pot is substantially larger I'll tip $2. The most I've ever tipped was $10 but that was for a $650 pot. I don't usually tip a dealer after their session unless they've given me a huge run of cards (which has only happened once).

$1 a pot. But since its Canadian money I might as well give him monopoly money. I also go by the no rake no tip rule. So if its just the blinds then no tip.

buck a pot unless it's just the blinds (no tip) or a huge pot (larger tip)
