... found some tournaments available in blackpool at the casino's.
from the info i have found out they are pretty much PL £10 + £1 buy-in multi table type affairs.
this is all good however i have never really played PL poker before. and when i have i have got beat badly. i put this down total lack of experience though.. and i am sure i could get better i have just only really played no limit before...
is it meant to be easier or harder than no limit?
can anyone direct me towards some good sites with literature on PL poker that would be good for a beginner..
does anyone know where i can play in no limit tournaments in blackpool or surrounding areas?
thanks in advance

Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

This may not be true in Blackpool but i feel I should warn you as I have played a few casino's in Leeds mainly gala and Napoleans. These were £10 PL multi table tournaments with a maximum of around 60 people. It is very very cut throat and you get a lot of casino gamblers that have no ideas what they are doing. Thinking of making a move or a bluff? Don't even bother, most likely you will get hunted to the river with 10 high, or bottom pair. I raised 10 times the blinds after everyone limped in with pocket aces and got 6 callers, 3 8 of hearts eventually won a massive pot catching a flush against my trip aces on the river it may be different in blackpool but just be careful. Having said that if you play tight and raise big when you have monsters you can't go too far wrong.

The only thing I don't like about pot limit is it's very hard to make a prohibitive bet in the blind from an early position. This is why 'lucky players' who like to play every hand favor pot limit. They know they would get shredded in a couple hands of no limit. Other than the situation in the blind there is little difference between PL & NL.

So, pot limit was created for 'lucky players'? And does it really take less skill than NL?

i am playing in one this weekend i think.
£5 buy in. and there is re-buys in the first two hours. does that mean it is going to be fairly manic for a while? should i go crazy in the first couple of hours and try and get as many chips as possible.... as there are re-buys??
or should i just play really tight like i normally do??
hmm this is all new to me.
any help would be fully appreciated.
oh.. it is a PL tournament.
thanks in advance.
