Does anyone lay this down? |

I have 22 in the small blind and limp with 2 others.
Flop comes 2 6 K.
I check, BB checks, button bets the pot ($6). I raise to $12, BB folds, button calls.
Turn is another K.
I check, button bets $10, I raise to $20, he calls. I'm thinking he has three kings, and I've made my sneaky boat.
River 8.
I bet $20, he raises me all in for a hundred something. I call.
He shows pocket 8's for KK888
I have KK222.
Does anyone lay this down? Or was I right to think I had the best hand?

To be honest, I can't believe he called you all the way to the river. That would be a very difficult hand to laydown, thats for sure. I would be concerned about the big raise at the end, but I probably would have made the call.

Yes, that's very surprising he called you all the way down, especially after you checkraised him twice. I doubt many people could get away from that, if anything I'd put him on a K8 if I was having a particularly sharp day with my reads....but probably would still call him down anyways, because I'm not that good.
The only thing I see you could've done to maybe prevent it is checkraise the turn more, maybe raise his bet $20-$30 instead of just doubling it, really try and push him off that pair.

his only line of thinking I can see is that his pocket pair was higher than anything on the board and he did not put you on a K or set. He thought he had top two pair and got the only card that could have saved him to your dismay. It would have been a horrible line of thinking but that is the only reason I can see him calling all of your raises.
I would have called myself.

It seems like your opponent was a bit of an idiot who happened to get lucky. However I wouldn't have liked to see that 2nd king come up on the turn. He could have been playing top pair.

I was kind of hoping that he was playing top pair and hit trips... because that second king gave me my boat. If he happened to have a K8 or K6 I knew I was done for... but I was willing to pay him off if he had that crap.

He pulled a 2 outer, it happens.
I put him on KQ/AK and call.

The call would have to hurt me so bad I had to quit the game for me to lay this down probably.
Had a face card come on the river it's a much easier hand to lay down IMHO, but the chances of him having the cards that can hurt you are too low to let this go.

I would of raised more than the minimum ont he turn. The paired board gives you the boat, but makes you very vulnerable to the river with those dueces. My thought is he was playing his two pair using the board's KK and assumed he had a huge hand. On a KK3 flop the other day, a guy played his A3 to make KK-33 two pair against my trip Ks. He said he flopped two pair and couldn't believe he lost...
