If anyone wants to make some easy money, hit the Harrahs. 7-8 callers each hand on the 3/6 tables, people call to the river w/ junk. The 6/12 played a bit cleaner.
Harrahs NO....the worlds largest cash machine!

I can only imagine what happens to the action there during this time of year, the big party in particular. . .or am I wrong and it tightens up when the big boys drift into town?

I'll be going to NO in November. I have a couple of questions about playing there.
1. what is a good buy in amount at a 3/6 table?
2. Do they have regular NL tournaments for reasonable buy ins?
Thanks

I didnt see any tourney postings, but I am sure thay they run them. They did have NL cash tables as well.
Standard buyin for 3/6 is $150. When I play here in MN, they use $1 chips for 2/4 3/6 4/8, so typical buyin is one rack of $100. Harrahs used $5 and $1 chips, so $150 doesnt take up much room.

Ah home... I sure do miss it! If you go to New Orleans, just be sure you walk with crowds and don't stray away from the main streets... especially on Bourbon street. It is dangerous. I say this as resident there of 20 years.
I forgot exactly where Harrah's is.... but be careful there too.

Eh, you'll be fine if you go to Harrah's. Its all the way on the river end of Canal, down by Canal Place and the Convention Center. You can even park in the Harrah's parking garage and walk underground, as in, never get to the city streets, in a path designed to take you directly to the casino.
As far as the 3-6 tables go, I agree that its easy money. I'm not even very good, (among other things, I exhibit nearly every tell you can think of) and generally come out ahead.
I've been a handful of times recently and my usual buying is ~$80. Buying in with less means I have to play super tight, buying in with more just seems like a waste. If you lose $80 at these tables you don't need to put any more in.

I live in New Orleans and I usually go to Harahs 1-2 a week. I play 3-6 and i normally buy in for 100. ITs a good play, but there are a few problems. Like he said, people usually play until the river because what is 6 bucks to a person with a good size stack. You can't really bluff there. Also, a lot of stupid drunk people come in a play, so, you usually can walk away with a decent stack, if you have something half way decent to play with.
Also, there are usaully 4-5 3-6 tables going on
have a good time down here
