Sklansky's Hold'em for Advanced Players question |

I play a lot of NL home games. We do play tourny style but the buy is usually $25 or so.
Question:
First off, I've read a few books, Super Systems I and II and some other misc paperbacks at the bookstore. Super System rocks.
Anyway, I've been reading Hold'em for Advanced Players (although I'm far from advanced) and really like the book. Sure, it's hard to follow sometimes and doesn't read easy, but good info.
Do the hole card groupings and pre-flop strategy carry over to NL? It seems to me it would but I don't want to spend too much on the groupings if they didn't. It talks a whole lot on position and which groupings to play in which positions based on the type of game and players.
The groupings make a lot of sense even in NL and want to see what others think.
I also hacked up a quiz program to test myself on the groupings. You can check it out here:
http://freeridersclub.com/quiz/quiz.php?quiz=1
It randomly grabs 5 hole cards and asks you which group they belong in. When you restart the quiz it randomly grabs another 5. I don't know if I will keep that link up very long but I thought I'd share.
Thanks in advance.

Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Wow. I've been trying to think of a way to test myself on Sklansky's hands.
I would believe they're important for NL too as I've been reading from a pro whom flat out comes out and SAYS Sklansky's hands are the gold standard and are exactly what you should memorize. (Of course how you PLAY those hands should be different in NL, but he say's they're important none the less).

I would say that the pocket pairs gain some value in NL because the pots tend to be less multi-way. Other than that, I agree that Sklansky's rankings are the gold standard for Hold'em.

Ive never read his book, but this quiz is fun. I can guess generally with in one group of where they are suppoed to be, I guess the next thing to learn is when to play what groups

That's a really nice tool. If you don't keep the quiz up on your website can you make it available to download?
Thanks,
Richie

I realized that this book is pure gold and downloaded it twice. But both times the (PDF) file was corrupted. (Obviously the same source)
Does anybody have a healthy file? Does anybody know where it could be downloaded?
Thanks in advance
