Player 2 wins w/ a piar of 8s, K high...here's why:
In Texas Hold'em, each player makes the best 5 card poker hand w/ any of their hole cards and the board....so here's the results:
Player one has a pair of 8s, Queen high w/ 8 8 Q 9 5
Player two has a pair of 8s, King high w/ 8 8 K 9 7
In your second example, the pot is split, with both players playing the board royal flush A K Q J 10
