Pot Size Bet

I have been doing alot more pot size bets and putting more pressure on other players in two instances especially

1)I have been trying to become more aggressive in my betting to try and take pots down at the flop or turn with flush or straight draws against top pair etc. to make it more expensive for them to try and hit the cards they need. I know that you only hit the flush 34% of the time with four on the flop. Am I flawed in trying to take 100% of those hands at the turn instead of milking some more money and losing 1 out of 3 hands at the river?

Example you are playing AK off suit and you get A 7 2 with two suited cards or the flop comes 8 9 A. Either way you have top pair with flush/straight possibilities. I will raise 1-2x BB to see the turn and then do the pot size bet on the turn to make it really expensive to see the river. I have been winning several of these types hands with the pot size bet and it becomes very lucrative when they don't hit.

2) When I have an AK AQ AJ KQ(depends on position) and the flop does nothing with 3 low cards like 2 5 9. I noticed that I seemed to fold those hands in the past after the flop on a be and now I will bet or reraise to get a better idea of where the other players are at. I have even started to do a pot size bet in these cases when I am first to act in late position when it is checked to me.

How often do you do a pot size bet and is that large enough to be effective?

Are we talking tournaments or ring games?

Tournaments, I bet pot a lot-top pair, great kicker, 2nd pair but junk on the board and few players.

Tournaments are survival. You cant milk pots and extract max value each time or you are bound to be caught. Betting pot and taking down pots will never set you backwards. Now, final table or last few of a SNG, now is when you can risk getting outdrawn if it means knocking someone out-when it really matters.
