Fastest tournament ive ever been in

,Ok so I go meet up some friends at a friends house where we have our weekly cash out 20.00 buy in game...

For some reason.. 6 out of the usual 10 ppl cant make it that night.. so there are 4 of us left with nothing to do.. we decide to play a little 4 person winner takes all no limit tournament...

50.00 buy in

so even though it was a small thing.. a 200.00 pay out for 1st sounded pretty good.

I sat down at the table ready for a long night of poker... never did i expect it would be over in 5 hands...

Hand 1: player 4 wins a decent community pot, giving him an early chip lead over the three of us..

Hand 2: I take down a decent pot from player 4.. so me and player 4 are both at a decent chip lead..

Hand 3: Player 2 raises all in off big blind.. player 3 calls.. player 4 folds..

Player 2 shows 7 Heart ,7 Diamond
player 3 shows J Club , J Heart
I show Q Heart , Q Diamond

Flop 5 Diamond ,8 Heart ,A Diamond
Turn Q Spade :D
River K Heart

So after knocking out 2 players in the third hand... I have a pretty big chip lead over player 4 going into heads up..

now this guy.. player 4.. he is a really cocky player.. even though he is new to the game, he swearshe is gods gift to poker... so I know he is gonna try to bluff me out of a lot of pots...

Hand 1 heads up..

I post big blind, my cards : A Heart ,K Heart

Opponent Calls, and I just check because i'm too busy still stacking the chips from the previous hand...

(Players 2 and 3.. stand up to go smoke a cigarette outside)

FLOP: K Spade ,K Diamond ,A Spade

Action is on player 4.. he goes All-in

Im thinking.. either he has pocket A's, just a pair of aces (2 pair.. with the Ks on the board), or he might have the other king.. OR he might just be bluffing.. trying to scare me..

Now see.. i bluff a lot.. but in heads up.. with a board like that.. its risky to try and steal.. especially if your first to act..

So after thinking about it.. I call.. because i figure the only way he can beat me is if he has the Pocket Aces...

I show him my full house..
he shows me his...

2 Heart, 7 Heart

I couldnt stop laughing...

I went outside to join the other players in thier smoke break.. they asked me if we were taking a break before starting heads up i was like.. "nope, its done haha"

the funniest part of it... I wasnt even done stacking my chips from the previous hand haha/b

I think I’d call this so fast they’d be a sonic boom as I moved my chips in :D

I like the thought process of opponent's holdings on the final hand.

Indeed although I think it was a little unnecessary. If he’d checked then I’d try and work out what he had so I could calculate the largest bet he would call. But this is a gift situation, since he’s already offered all of chips. In which case I’d jump straight to the end...

I’ve flopped a full house one from the nuts.
The only thing that’s got me beat is AA.
If he’s slow play AA pre-flop he’ll most likely continue, either checking and calling or leading with small milking bets. An all-in with AA would average a very poor return compare to most other betting strategies.

I agree completely.. Getting the most pay out for the best hand.. im not talking about just pockets Aces.. when you have the best possible hand on the board.. or one of the best... you have to play it right to get the most out of it.. and thats a really big part of hold em...

I mean of course there is no way I wouldve folded in the end.. I just wanted to be 100% sure before I called.. better safe than sorry

it depends actually.
I only play Sit N Go''s and i move all in with my AA's all the time
or bet 1/3 to 1/2 of my stack. I have eleminated alot of players this way. Keeping people in the hand leaves the way open for straights flushes and 2 pairs.......

remember those times u let people in the hand to beat u with one of the above! they would have probably folded if u raised big pre-flop

just my 2 cents

Im with muck

I would have called knocking over anything in my path as I stood up for my pre-victory celebration. table, chairs, drinks whatever.

HAhha, You didn't have to laugh did you?

That's a good line Muck. I'm going to steal that quote sometime. Wink

Good story, but did you seriously consider what the other person had that last hand? They could show me pocket aces and I'd still have to call. Wink

I like using one (only on my mates) that was originally a Simpson’s quote.

"You fold faster than superman on laundry day." :D
