Help on all-in

The game was a NL home tourny 7 handed somewhat aggressive.

I had pocket 4s suit doesn't really matter but I think it was 4h 4d. I was BB and decided to raise 4 times the BB since no once raised before me. I think 2 people called my raise.

Flop came 4c jd 7c

I was worried about the flush draw so check came to me and I raised about 8 times the BB. That knocked one other checker out and the other checker called.

Next card came another club, can't recall which club it was but doesn't really matter. At this point I raised again and made roughly a pot sized bet which at this point put me about 1/2 my stack in the pot.

He moved all in. I figured he had the flush or was on a flush draw. Any card on the board pairs and I make my full house and there was the possiblity of my 4s holding up. The person that raised all in bluffs on big hands like that about 50% of the time. I had 10 outs and 32 more cards in the deck. I called and he flipped over 2 clubs and the board didn't pair.

Taking him down would've made me the chip leader so I felt moving in and taking those odds were acceptable. I feel I played it ok but was wondering what you'd suggest.

Thanks.

Kid

I usually don't fear flushdraws when I'm holding sets. Sets are an 80% favourite or so against them, and at those odds I'll gladly slowplay them to get an extra caller or two. But every man for himself, I know alot of people hate flushdrawers like the plague.

I think the mistakes on this hand is raising pocket fours out of position pre-flop and pushing chips into the hand when you suspect you are behind. Yes, you were an 80% favourite to win on the flop, but you are an 80% favourite to lose on the turn - this combined with playing too hard out of position puts you in a very difficult situation - check and show weakness or commit yourself to the pot, gambling that he does not have the flush. If you pay people off in those situations, you are actually giving them the implied odds to chase any draw after the flop, regardless off your protective bets.

Play harder when you have late position, and you will find that you can easily outmanouver your opponents when they are on draws, you will probably also find that your friend will not be able to bluff so easily on the scarecards.

It's basically impossible to give a very thorough analysis without more details.

My first thought is that your flop bet seems a bit small. Given your read and action before his push, it's an easy turn call. Nothing to really discuss about that. Shit happens.
