Came in 2nd in the crappiest way possible at local card room

$50 buy in tournament at my local card room here in tallahassee, FL and there were about 63 people i believe. It comes to heads up against this old guy who had been getting a really hot streak of cards and really never bluffing, everytime he turned his cards it was flush-boat-two pait-flush or what not. Anyways I had about 28,000 in chips against his 60,000 and blinds are 8000/4000. He smooth calls and I go all in and he calls after a minute of thinking I flip over A 6 of spades and he flips over A 6 of clubs and well you know the rest. A club club on the flop and he hits that damn flush on the river. I got $437 for second place which isnt bad.

I played this tournament about 6 times before and won it the first time I ever played and cashed two other times I feel like I can almost always win there but thats how it goes. They are having a tournament of champions this weekend and since I won it before Januray 2005 I cant play in it so I am also mad about that.

I also got a speeding ticket while driving back home for 61mph in a 35mph zone but he lowered it for me to only 9 over.

It has been a bittersweet night :D

let me get this right, a "tournament of champions" that a "tournament champion" can't play in?

was this tourny a freezout? because $50 with 63 people seems like second should get a bit more then $440, how many places paid?

If the cardrooms in Northern Florida are anything like the ones here in South Florida, the house takes an ungodly rake. Something like 38%.
