My friend and I went to AC last night for some poker. Since it's a holiday weekend (Memorial Day) I suggested we try Sands; I thought it wouldn't be as busy as the Trop, Taj, or Borgata.
First, the poker room is on a different floor, which is actually kind of nice, because you don't have gaming right outside the doors. I knew the room was going to be small, but I wasn't expecting what I saw. They had 5 games running, which weren't all completely filled, and they were trying to start up another table of 2-4 (which is all I play at this point). Waited for a while, finally got re-seated at another table.
Tables were raggedy, the room was somewhat dirty, and the play and employees were horrible. Dealers were extremely slow, had trouble reading the board. It took forever for one dealer to split a pot. The floor people were atrocious, re-seating us, not taking names down to put on the lists. We asked one floorperson if we could cash out at the simulcast booth, and he didn't even know, the floorperson in the poker room didn't know where to cash out.
We sat for about 45 minutes, played maybe 10-15 hands, and left for the Trop.
Never, ever, play at the Sands. Having to wait half an hour to get seated at the Trop was much more worth it.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. Also, the rooms are dirty and disgusting.
In the NL games, you can only buy in for $150. The big stacks there then push you around until you are re-buying.
They have by far the WORST poker room in AC.
