Yellow RPT now in stock at Pokerchipshopping

Posted Tue May 31, 2005 11:40 am GMT by lwestatbus
Last week I'd reported that pokerchipshopping was out of stock on their yellow RPT Nexgens just after I'd decided to bite the bullet and select those chips for my third set of poker chips. I also reported that PCS had told me that it would be two months, or so, until they were in stock.

However, my in box this morning had a message that the yellows were in stock so I pounced. I ordered five sets of the 200-chip sets that Pocket Rocket had highlighted as a real bargain and it sure enough was. Total bill for 1000 NexGen chips, five cases, the usual dice and cards, including delivery, was $151. As Pocket Rocket had reported, shipping on the 1000 chips maxed out at $19.95 giving a real economy of scale to the 1,000 chip order.

I ordered a mix to outfit ten players with 50 yellows per player and 30 blacks. Added purples and greens for coloring up and a small number of whites to serve as 'change'. Most especially to be half the small bet or the small blind in the low limit format I expect to be playing.

I've been busy with the digital camera collecting photos for the Banana River (coastal Florida) stop on the RPT. Have got a marina scene with shades of blue and white for the white chips, a great sunset for either the yellow or black, and palm trees on the beach for the green. Still looking for something for the purple and the yellow/black.

This purchase concludes months of anguish--maybe the madness will finally stop.

Thanks for the update. I guess it's back in stock on their other sites as well. Guess I'll order some more.

It didn't occur to me until a moment ago, but Consolidated Labels (onlinelabels physical business name) is local to you. Don't know if it will make getting labels easier for you. They don't have any qualms about sending out samples, so don't hesitate to ask (or maybe you can just pick them up) before buying them. The samples may not be in the 1" circle size but it will give you a general idea of the material and they'll send you a couple of sheets of the circular paper labels as well so that you have an idea as to how the sheet will look.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with all those 200 chip clear cases, those crummy cards, and all those dice. Laughing

Thanks Pocket, You'd mentioned Consolidated Labels in a different post and I'd also discovered them on my own. Got a (very generous) sample of 0.75 in labels for an idea that I've since abandoned but will probably go to them for 1 in stock. I've pasted a bunch of the 0.75 in on some 11.5g chips and am letting the grandkids play with them to see how they hold up. You don't have any insights on this do you?

I'm starting to regret now not having bitten the bullet and ordered 1200 chips. I've got 4 300-chip wooden cases. Oh, well.

PokerChipShopping just eMailed saying my order has been shipped.

I'm going to have to hold a garage sale on cases, cards, and chip samples. Actually, I've got so many of each I can probably put together my own sets from the left overs and use them as Christmas presents this year. I'm already planning on using my current 11.5g set as presents for the family. I guess I should also put together a photo gallery of all of my chip samples--I ordered ten of about everything that will take a 1 in center label.

Thanks again for the advice.

It kind of depends on which 11.5g chips you're referring to, there's probably a couple hundred different ones on the market right now. The Texas Hold'em (Trademark 10-1700) accommodate a 1" label quite well. You can put a label on any of the chips, it's just that some will require that you fold them over the ridge, and on some that don't have a sufficient recessed area, the labels may increase the thickness of the chip causing instablity and the labels will wear faster rubbing against each other. If you have grandkids, then you probably understand my preference to avoiding .75 inch labels, the type tends to be too small Wink unless you print nothing but a large denomination on the label.

With regards to the number of chips, I guess you're referring to your recent RPT order of 1000? Trademark's other site, 5stardeal.com is now running a 26% discount promotion, so if you need more you can order more, but do be alert to their shipping charges. I think their shipping for a 200 chip set to the West Coast was almost $16!

My bad. By the "they" in ..."how they hold up" I meant the labels from Online Labels. I gather from your posts that you've used them. Sorry for the confusion.

I have both the paper and the old vinyl labels from Online, but for actual usage, I've only used the vinyl ones (not the new poly ones that they now have) for my personal chips and they hold up quite well. After I've sprayed the labels with Krylon, there is no way that I can damage the printed area without damaging the label itself (i.e. I will damage the label before I damage the printing.) In normal use with chips that have recessed centers they work very well and do not seem to sustain damage in usage. The ones that I have with the most wear are on some blank clay chps from Blue Chip and they've held up quite well for the 5 or so months that they have been on there. I haven't done anything with the RPT chips yet as I just finished labeling them last week. They're more for the sake of younger players who seem to think that chips have to have edge spots. Insofar as whether or not they're grandkid safe, um... I figure I've just put too much work into the chips to risk that Laughing , so I haven't tried.

I've printed up paper labels for other folks, but haven't really followed up on how they've held up. But since they haven't called back, they're either very disgusted and don't want to talk to me, or haven't had any problems with them. But I do spray the paper ones as well before I deliver them. I just don't know if they hold up as well as the vinyl. The people on this forum and on Chiptalk don't seem to report any problems with the paper labels that they've gotten from the internet vendors, and it would appear that some don't spray the labels at all.

Insofar as future experiments, I may be toying around with some of the clear and foil labels at some point in the future, I think they're both poly based as well.
