The hardest thing about poker!!

I, like most of you, I am sure, try to leave cash games with a profit. I find this challenging however even when I am winning and getting good cards. I might find myself up $200 - $300 early in a cash game. That's a hard time to cash out because it's early and I might have only been playing an hour or 2. I feel I can at least retain my lead or even double it. I find myself leaving even a lot of times though when I am up early - mid during my stint. Any tips, suggestions on leaving the game when you are ahead even if it's early? When I am getting the cards I feel I can even win more and that's a problem.

2 methods:

1) go for kill, play more hands, raise preflop each time and try to run over table, win a bunch or lose it all

2) tighten WAY up, play only AA KK QQ JJ AK AQ and just enjoy watching the game and conversation

If you dont like either of those, change tables and go up or down in stakes. Going beyond your normal game on a freeroll every once in a while isnt a bad thing. Moving down lets you play your normal game without risking losing your profit.

Make sure not to let greed get the best of you. There's no such thing as luck, only odds, and if you hit a lot of good cards early, the odds are that your streak won't continue. Know how much you want to walk away with, or how much more you want to win. There's always more money on the table, but remember: One in the hand is better than two in the bush.

Walking away is an important lesson to learn, and don't let what could have been torture your play.

not exactly, someone could have a run of cards for their entire life, that in a whole would be a statistical damnnear impossibility, but each time a hand is dealt you have the same chance of getting one of those level 1 hands as you did the last hand and the hand before that.

If you get pocket Aces 9 times in your first 100 hands..... the chances are exactly the same of it happening again in the next 100.

Luck has no memory.

Two tips: if you f*ck up a hand and lose a pot that you shouldn't have been in the first place or screwed up some street. Then take your winnings and leave.

I will often extend my sessions if a generally losing player heats up and catches some cards. Also, if I've been playing for a while, 4-6 hours, and make a play that hurts my image, i'll leave shortly after that.
