Anyone used these:

? They're all over ebay. Looks pretty sweet if the quality's decent. High shipping but 90 lbs. (!), has to be pretty solid if it weighs that much, ya think?

200 delivered doesn't sound too bad. The only one I've seen comparable are the 8 seaters w/ 500 chip set for 250 and that doesn't include shipping.

Looks like a pit boss table to me. That is what I have and it would be well worth $200 shipped.

I did a review of this table at Chiptalk.net in the other poker gear review section. I gotta go now so I don't have time to link to it, but I am sure you can find it there.

good luck.

If those are the ones from Palm Imports, they're pretty decently built for a Chinese import. We have them available locally for less than that guy's price after you factor in covering shipping and his eBay fees. I don't think they weigh 90 lbs though. There's also a cover that's available for the table. The smell from the petrolium by-products (which the manufacturer calls a 'moth ball' smell) used to make that cover is so strong that it should probably have a Prop 65 warning on it if it's sold in California. By all means, if you get the cover, open it and air it outside for a few days and hope the smell goes away before bringing it indoors. (unless you want someone to think that you've just spilt a gallon of gasoline in your house).

Does anyone know who manufactures those tables (both the fold in half and the folding legs ones)?

I was thinking of importing some and selling them on.

If it is in fact a pit boss table (not sure if it is) the company is something like Great Lakes Darts or something similar to that....I remember it saying that on the box when I got mine.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but if I remember the exact wording I will let you know.

My friend bought one of those tables from that exact seller. He said it came quickly. We played on it last night and it's really nice. Very sturdy table and the rails are very well built. It also has the deep cup holders.

Good to know, thanks.

Is the table top padded?...if yes...I am buying one right away....

Guy's not to burst your bubble but for $200 you could build yourself a really nice table. But that's jus my opinion.

Posted Sat Jul 02, 2005 10:53 pm GMT by Fat Tony
you're absolutely right, it's just that some of us are too damn lazy to build our own tables. :D

Well, nothing wrong with DIY, but these are $120 now and it folds in half, which is big for me, I need to get it in my van, and I don't feel any need to try to learn upholstery.

Anyway, so I bought one of these from another eBay vendor for $120 shipped. Exact same table as far as I can tell.

Good stuff:
Seems sturdy. Looks good. Materials and workmanship seem to be of reasonable quality. Came with a fabric case.

Not-so-good:
No locking mechanism, which is kind of awkward and requires caution while setting up. No handles, and this thing is heavy (70-ish lbs.) and awkward to move. Padding is a bit thin, maybe 1/4 inch on table and 5/8 on rails.

So I'd give it a thumbs up for now, seems worth the price at least. Need to find a way to get wheels or handles on it. Only time will tell if it holds up but I'm optimistic from what I see.

Hey IB:

Is there padding under the felt on this table, or is the felt layed directly over plywood?

Posted Wed Aug 17, 2005 12:58 pm GMT by Iron Butt
Yes, there is padding under the felt on this table. :D

I ended up buying the $120 table, from solidwholesale. I think it's pretty nice and would agree that the only downer is there is no locking mechanism, except for velcro straps (better than others though). My friend bought the $200, which is now $170, from Weiweiland? Here is what I see as the differences:

$120 Model
Nice darker green felt w/ padding
Shallow but larger diameter cup holders (holds can's w/ koozies)
Metal frame and bracing under table top
Velcro straps
Nylon protective bag

$170 Model
Cheap felt (easily piques, cards can stick) w/ padding
Deep cup holders, holds cans
2nd piece of 3/4" ply supports table top
Nice locking hinges (lock when table is extended)
No bag

Hope this helps,

Dave

Thanks. I guess since there are now confirmed differences between tables I should state that the supplier I used was "solidwholesale".

That's who I ordered from too. I hope this does help everyone. It would have helped me since the reason I bought from solidwholesale was that they were obviously cheaper and I thought it would look just like my buddies table. Fortunatley, I liked it better.

Dave

I am getting a sample of one of these this week. I will let you know my verdict.

Posted Wed Aug 24, 2005 2:51 pm GMT by ChkDeezNuts
The biggest key to these is how easily the felt can be changed.

Got a sample one through yesterday and my reaction was mixed. The rail, padded surface, felt and cup holders are all fine. However the table isn't sturdy enough. It wobbles and the fold in the middle doesn't lock. And also the quality of finishing on the underside is poor.

It they added something to make it sturdier and cleaned up the finishing and added a lock - then it would be an excellent budget table. I have told the manufacturers my opinions - hopefully they will up the standard.

Which table supplier/manufacturer is the one you are referring to?

jersey,

Can't say much about those tables, but the table I got from solidwholesale on Ebay was really nice and you can't beat it for $120 shipped. The more I use it the more I love it. The cards slide a lot better on its felt than they do on my friends similar table. His has cheap felt, like many of the cheap holdem style tables

.

By any chance, when making the recommendations to the manufacturer, is this what you were comparing it to or what you would like it to be?

Yeah that underside is much better. I'll send that to the supplier and see what they say.

I ended up getting this table:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8707077404&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Got it for $160 delivery included. Not bad.

This table is different from the other tables above, as it is 8 feet long, not 7. I wanted the extra length for added comfort. Seems to be a sturdy table, heavy, felt seems of a good quality (seems to be felt, hasn't started pilling yet, I'll let you know as time progresses). I'm actually happy with what I got, especially for the money I paid. Everyone loves the table, so all in all a decent buy. There were some small rips under the cup holder rims, that I'm going to crazy glue so they don't spread, but I'm still very happy with the table.
