Here's the situation:
Bob has: King of Hearts, 3 of Clubs
Joe has: Queen of Hearts, 3 of Spades
Community cards are: Ace of Hearts, Jacks of Hearts, 5 of Hearts, 4 of Hearts, 8 of Diamonds.
Since the Ace is the high card in both players' flushes, does the next-highest card determine the winner, or is it a split pot?

^ Exactly. And if the highest 2 cards were the same it would go to the 3rd highest card. It would go down to whatever card is higher in the chain opposed to the opponent's. The only way a flush could make a split pot is if the flushes are exactly the same cards, in the same exact order. That goes for straights and straight flushes as well.
