I'll try to set this up as best i can. Blinds are at $25-$50, early on in a 3 table live tournament/home game, 9 people are at this table. Each player starts with 5k in chips.
Pre-Flop:
UTG through middle position fold, middle+1 limps in for $50, folds all the way to Dealer who raises to $150, SB calls, BB calls. SB and BB are very loose and play a lot of hands. Middle +1 folds. Pot is now at $500
Flop comes:
Ad, 5d, 7c
SB checks, BB bets out $1000, Dealer Raises to $2000, SB folds, BB calls. Pot is now at $4500
Turn comes:
8d
BB checks, Dealer checks. Pot is still at $4500.
River comes:
Qc
BB bets out $1300, Dealer calls. Final pot is $7100
What did they have?

A strong desire to overbet the pot?

The easy answer is something in the flush or straight department, most likely a flush. But since you posted this I'll say two-pair Queens and Eights. What do I win?

BB turns over K-7d, Dealer turns over 5-5.
So yeah, it was a flush. Talk about a messed up flop bet by the BB eh? I was the dealer, I certainly didn't see flush coming with that kind of flop bet, I put him on Ace Big. Given this guy's erratic play I had to call on the river given pot odds and the fact I didn't put him on a diamond draw.

Indeed, still can't get over that flop bet. Or really the preflop call.
