Phil Gordon made a table at a televised event! Sometime in September, I think, we'll get to see all that theory and Celebrity tutoring put to work.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? That would be kind of cool to have a Pro (celeb. status) contribute to the board. As far as I know, Phil Gordon is not a ghost member though.

Well, I know we have a few WSOP players here now, and I'm trying to become a pro as fast as I can.
But seriously, yeah it would be nice to have a pro on board, but we do have some very good and helpful players on this site.
And Phil Gordon is a phenomenal player--saw him on WPT once, and he read the other guy like a book. I can't wait to see him play again. He's going in as 9th place in chips, so he has some work to do, but he's the only major name at the table, so I wouldn't count him out.

The thing i remember most about Phil Gordon was the aruba WPT tournament where he won the "pro's" side. I think he beat off Helmuth? Duke? and some others and had to play Juha Helpe (sp?) winner of the "amateur" side.
Anyways, Helpe ran over him in the heads up game, Gordon admitted that the guy just totally outplayed him and he wished someone like Helmuth had represented the pro's side.
For more info http://www.philgordonpoker.com/biography.html It's from his own site, so it's a little flowery

Well he took 8th... I'm a little disappointed he didn't do better, but hopefully we'll get to see him play at least more than one hand.

THAT was the one I saw. The heads-up was great and the amateur did play incredibly well. Phil never got out the starting blocks to be honest but he wasn't made to look too bad, just a little weaker than we all expected.

Yeah, Phil didn't play badly, Helpe got some incredible cards and was able to put pressure on Phil from the start. Phil never really got any cards at all and Helpe was able to conitnue applying the pressure.
Phil did make some good laydowns tho, but with no cards he was always on the back foot.

That Aruba event was a fraud...there should be a law against posting about that Tournament.

Got to RGP and look for Daniel Negraunu's threads...he explains it in depth...it is rather complicated.....
Daniel even went on to say that it was a "fix"

Oh! Him
Personally i find DN to be a snivelling little wretch who finds plenty of fault in others' behaviour while having the amazing ability to not recognise the same behaviour in himself.
The guy, while having amazing poker ability, leaves a lot to be desired as a person.
The above is an opinion. Not a statement of fact, other opinions may vary, while others are free to express their opinions please respect mine and do not try to change my mind, only DN's actions may do this and so far they have failed.

Danny N has changed his ways since his drunk days....as for the "fix"...the threads I mentioned are quite compelling...

I am actually Stu Unger. Don't tell anyone that I'm still alive and living under a new alias though...
