Hey guys... i need help. I badly want to become better at this game, but i recently discoverd something.
I suck at bluffing.
I suck at reading hands.
I am a total newbie.
At any rate =P I have read the basics, but not too in depth.I am a member at partypoker... and have dabbled around a bit. I figured the best way to learn was to play, yet im finding myself getting frustrated. I feel like i should read up and learn more.
Are there good guides/books out there? Or even websites, good links, etc.. of where to learn this game better? Also... what is your suggestion on getting into Real money games? I have messed around a bit in very low stakes, and have had a few good moments, but more bad moments.
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks a ton in advance!
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

you haven't really asked a single specific question. you're basically just asking for us "to make you good at poker"... er... look in some of the threads on decent books to choose (super system 1 + 2, winning low stakes hold-em, etc)
Otherwise I'll offer you lessons for 10 an hour

actually, apparently it was a failed attempt at humor. At any rate, thanks for the advice... I apologize if that was how i came across.. I ceartinly wasn't trying to be that annoying person who asks "Make me good at poker" I am purchasing Winning Low Limit Hold 'Em, it looks like a great read and from what i understand, a huge help. Thanks for the book idea. I appreciate it.
Oh, and the 10 per hour? I would, but i just bought a book =P Thanks again for the help!
Take care.

Raise! And then check raise, and then raise some more, followed by an all-in. When you've mastered that, you can bring the all-in to earlier stages in your game, until eventually you perfect the ultimate move: the blind preflop all-in.
My funny reply to your funny post.
Well done, too well done really, that comes up a lot here but without the funny part.
Not to deter you noobs, remember, the only dumb question is the one that goes unasked. No one is born knowing how to play poker. :D

Winning Low Limit Holdem is a great place to start for fixed limit games, it is good that you have ordered it. To get the best results, read it ALL once and then start playing and apply some of the knowledge. After a while, periodically back to the book if you are still unsure about something or concerned that you are not seeing results. You can easily come back to that book time and again for sage low limit advice.
