So while in Montreal this past week I visited Casino De Montreal on Monday night just to look around... ended up playing LetItRide and doubling up then making a hasty exit...
good so far... 
Friday night I was intending on playing at Akwesasne in some cash games because I didn't think I'd make it in time for their 6pm NL tourney.... as it happens we finished early on Friday and I did make it in time...
I was wary of the structure, but this was my first live B&M tourney so I figured I'd give it a try...
Buy-in $37 -- 2000 chips
One rebuy $50 -- 5000 (can be made anytime in the first 5 blind levels)
One add-on $50 -- 10000
The blinds levels increased every 15 minutes:
25/50
50/100
100/200
300/500
500/1000
So after the first break you are starting with blinds at 1000/2000... at 15 minutes it was incredibly rapid...
I played pocket 7s a little too aggressively early on and felt that I should do the re-buy so as to compete.... then the add-on was almost a must considering the blinds and amount of chips.
I play fairly tight and over-heard some guy remarking about all these conservative players and how they will never win money and they "watch too much TV"...
MISTAKE #2.... allowed this to fester in my brain
After the break I had a couple of hands that I raised pre-flop and he'd come over the top all in (which would put me out)...the hands I had were Ax....I kept thinking about what he had said and couldn't help but believe I had him beat.... I just couldn't pull the trigger.
Later on I actually starting getting some cards and making plays, but by then I was so short-stacked I was always getting called and actually had to showdown to win.
My last hand I get JJ and raise to 4X BB (12k)... guy across the table pushed them all in and has me covered so i call... he turns over AA... 
all done... somewhere around 23rd out of 40
so while I'm not altogether unhappy with my play (later on) I obviously have some work to do... 
One strange thing they did that I wanted to solicit comments about...
They were doubling the minimum bet on turn and river. I have seen this in LIMIT games only so far and there were about 3 of us who disagreed with this, but there were a couple of players at the table who thought we were nuts...
Example:
if the blinds were 1000/2000... the minimum bet on the turn and river was 2000 pre-flop and flop, but 4000 for the turn and river.
