Too tight with Big Slick? (part 2)

$11 NL SnG at Stars (single table). 5 players left, blinds 150/300.

Hero is on the button with $5000.
Villian is in the small blind with $3500. Villian is an extreme TAG.

Hero dealt AKo.
Folds around to hero, who raises to $900.
Villian re-raises all-in.
BB folds.
Pot is $4700, it's $2600 to call.

Pot odds clearly indicate a call here, even if you narrow the villian's range to (AA-TT, AK). On the other hand, losing a coin flip will cripple me up pretty badly and I've only got $900 in the pot.

Hero folds.

Am I nuts?

- Nick

Hmmm.... your probably folding a winning hand here, or one with good potential but I can understand why. If I took my time and thought about it I probably would do the same. In the "heat of battle" though I would probably call.

If you were earlier in the tourny or already into the money I would call. I dont have a problem folding here when you are on the bubble.

Just be aware of what this is saying about your table image to other players.

tournaments are about survival, not winning every pot possible. If you felt you had the worst of it, you did the right thing. Why call if you feel you don't have the best hand?
