Vegas Poker Rooms - They Rock! |

I just relocated here and I am loving it! The competition is a little stiffer out here... many more tighter players and many more rocks! But, what makes this experience so much more fun than the California Poker rooms are 1. the hot babe cocktail waitresses 2. Get a shot or a beer for $1 3. the hot babe cocktail waitresses. Oh I said "3" already. I wish that more of the dumb, loose players from LA would be there, but I guess I have to wait for major vacation dates. Ah well.

Yes, indeed, Vegas rocks. It rocks a little too much for Carson and I (see very bottom of page), as we just bought tickets out there, spur of the moment for Wednesday. We're going out again in May for the WSOP. Probably go again in the summer. I like to go before Christmas too. I should just give up and move there. What poker rooms do you suggest in Vegas?

What do you think is the best casino to play at in vegas
Posted Tue Jan 20, 2004 3:32 pm GMT by Sundance
I assume you mean to play Holdem.
If you are new to the game or not confident in playing in a casino, then go to the Excalibur or Luxor, great tables for beginners and low limits, if you are more advanced, then I would suggest Mirage, Bellagio, Mandalay, and maybe the Horshoe - lots of rocks.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

Yes i mean hold-em.Preferably a low buy-in no limit game

The Luxor usually has a couple $25 buy-in tournaments throught the day. I think they cap it a 30 players, can't remember. Excalibur has a loose $1/$2 low limit game, everyone calls and everyone chases, I played it for a while until a seat came open at the 4/8 table.

that luxor tip is awesome... i'm gonna go there when we visit in october. is that the only low-cost buyin tourney? any other suggestions for something similar to that?

Mandalay Bay has a low buy in too. I forgot what times. Sahara has a 60 dollar tourney (multi table) if that's still affordable for you. If anyone comes to Vegas, lemme' know. Ask Carson or Adam about me, I've met them already. They'll vouch for me. FYI about me. I'm a young guy in my late twenties. I like poker. I like chics. I love Vegas.

I am coming in March. I hope to play a satalite at Binions for the WSOP. I guess they have $125 buyin, 100 players, you play at your table until there is a winner, then the winners of the 10 tables play a final table for the seat.

I spent a lot of time at Lexor and Excaliber when I went to vegas, the players at those tables were horrible. I would have people reraising me after I check raised (I usually only do this on 4rth street if I feel they will bet but maybe not reraise me and I have a really good hand) and they would reraise me back, and we'd be capping the pot on 4th and 5th street. It's like they'd never seen a check raise before. At the end of the hand I would think, man I want to see the monster they have that merits giving my hand no repsect, it would more times be middle pair or top pair with a crap kicker. It was so bad I couldn't repect any raise anymore outside a few people I saw early that knew what they were doing. I'd just shake my head and say "man I just got lucky on that one" to keep them thinking their play was solid. The money wasn't great, but it was almost like a sure thing. Why take a chance trying to make $300 in a night if you know $150 is in your pocket for sure? Those low limit tables paid for my trip, and sent me home with around $800. I never wanted to leave. I knew if I moved up to higher stakes that I'd be actually having to play well, and these tables were fishes what also wouldn't hook cards.
The best part was their would be so many people who "just wanted to see a flop" and hit a part of it, that getting paid off was very easy. I kept worrying about people catching on, but they just didn't.
Here's an example of a hand that shows what I'm talking about. I have pocket 3's, one of the other players has 2 something. I raise comming in because I'm stupid with 3's, they're just my lucky hand, flop comes like 2, 8, 3. I check, somebody bets everyone calls, I reraise, everyone calls. Turn comes another 3, I think this is so dumb but I'm going to check, the original raiser bets everyone calls and I reraise every one calls. Now it should be pretty obvious I have at least one three. River brings another 2, I think there is no way this play is going to work again, but I decide to push it, I check, original raiser bets, other hand suddenly reraises, everyone folds to me, I reraise her, the original better suddenly realizes his hand is no good and fold, and the reraiser raises me again. Now I think this poor person has pocket 2's, we end up getting all her money in the pot (she didn't have much left anyway) and she says to me before she flips her cards over, I got you on this one. I laugh and say no the best you have is four 2's, and I have that beat, but no she has a single 2. Now ask yourself in that situation would you not have given me the three and just called to make me show it? I mean the only thing you can beat is a pure bluff right there, why do I keep pounding at this pot with my stupid check raises unless I'm leading the whole way. I mean a boat is good, but if the board shows boat such as 2,2,3,3 and you have the 2 your not in great shape. If someone is playing back at you, it's time to call and make me show it or just fold.

I was in Vegas for the first time a few weeks ago and I played at the Excalibur. It was great because I was just playing the low limit games and have only played a few in live games before but I was very comfortable. You could get the guys that had just watched it on TV and thought that they knew everything or you could get the tight players. I ran into a few that raised on anything and got lucky hitting the inside straight on the river but eventually the odds would catch up to them and they would walk away with nothing left. I tried to play it tight with my limited experience and I went home a $120.00 up and I only played the $1-$3 tables. I also pulled off a straight flush. I was stoked. I just wished then that I was on a higher limit table.
