That the .25 - .50 online players are better than the average 1-4, 8, 8 players at my local casino? It seems possible since online players can come from anywhere in the world, while the players at my casino are generally from the gulf coast area. These guys don't see as many flops as you would online, but they are incredibly passive and pretty easy to put on hands. Maybe I just got lucky at the table I played on last night, but in general I think this might be right.

I find the 1/2 FL players on Pokerstars are better than those at my live 3/6 games at the Trump.

It's more than possible. The competition I face at $2/$4 Party tables is a LOT steeper than the $3/$6 at my local cardroom. I mean a LOT. Hence why I mostly play Stud or SnGs online now.

Yeah, you guys are only mentioning one level difference. Do you think the 1 - 2 online players are better than the 6 - 12 B&M's?
If this really is the case, I need to spend a lot more time at the B&M.

Eh, I'd say it depends on the club. From my limited experience with $5/$10 and higher limits, it's often a mix of skilled players there for the cash, and rich flounders out to have a good time with a few hundred bucks.

The average online player is much better than the average casino player, IMO. When I played 3/6 in a casino most players didn't even know the betting structure. One guy attempted to go all-in on the river for his remaining $15, the dealer explained that he couldn't and assured the guy that he would get there soon enough--it was pretty funny. Back to the original topic, you also have to consider that the rake is much steeper at a casino than it is online.

I’ve personally found the competition in the UK casino’s to generally be higher than on-line.
I think this is because the intimidation of the casinos keeps the casual players out, were as in the US you can just walk into casinos and play (correct me if I’m wrong) so they’re closer to our fruit machine arcades.

Quite often 2/4 or 3/6 is the smallest game in a casino. When the smallest game in the room is $3/$6, that's where the first-timers will sit.
On top of that, the casino poker room will get the "walk-up" traffic that an online poker room doesn't. To download software, install it, set up a cash account and deposit takes effort. You don't find anyone who just stumbled across it. In a casino, especially on a weekend, you'll get a decent number of players who happen to walk by the poker room and say, "Oh, I saw this on TV. Let's try it."
As for some tried and true formula of $1/$2 online = $x/$y in a casino, I don't think you'll ever find such a thing. I've been in very tough $4/$8 games and very soft $10/$20 games. You'll get good and bad players at every level.

Ill have to somewhat agree here. Ive seen a 2-5 game where people would respect raises and played very well compared to some 5/10 or 10/20 games ive seen. However, in general the 2-5 game has weaker players than the 5/10 or 10/20 game.

Of course. It's all relative to the games available at the time. The 6/12 at the Trop is usually the biggest game in the room, and there's rarely more than 2 of them running. At the Borgata two weeks ago, they had an 80/160 spread so the 5 6/12 games looked like peanuts in comparison.

You must join a casino (photo id required) 24 hours before you’re allowed inside.
You can enter immediately only if you’re signed in by a current member.
