Push more on the flop?

Posted Fri Jun 17, 2005 11:22 am GMT by Hurricane Ham
Decided to do partake in the madness that is the 5 dollar NL tournament on Party this morning, been at the same table the whole time, so I've got a pretty good read on most of the players. This guy loved betting out into pre-flop raisers with anything, just to see if they would play back or fold. Loved limping into pots, played a lot of hands, but played them poorly. Saw him pay off a few people with middle pair after getting raised, and would just keep betting out into people.

Same deal this hand. I did what I could to try and see what he had, bastard still got lucky. In retrospect, I regret not raising more than a little over 3X the big blind, but raises were getting respect anyways and getting it down to 2 or 3 people. Push it harder on the flop, i.e. raise more, or push all in? He bets into me on the turn again like a moron, I don't get the sense he has KJ or a set, so I push, and was correct.

I probably would have raise it about 500 on the flop if this guy played the way you said he did. On the flop, I would have pushed 1000+ knowing that all my chips were going into the pot.

Since he was raise/calling all your bets I don't think there was any way he would fold.

agree with skribbles, you could've pushed harder at the flop (i wouldve done probably to 1200), but its unlikely this guy was folding if he didnt hit his card on the turn, but still called a decent sized bet

Your opponent was a moron ... look forward to the next time when he doesn't outdraw you.

Ditto. I don't think you could've gotten him off of that hand without pushing all-in preflop or maybe, and that's a huge maybe, on the flop.
