Should I have bet the river? |

This guy had me stumped. He tried limping in and just flat called all my raises. Do you bet the river here or check it down? What would you put him on?
*No read on the guy. First orbit at the table.

I may be a bit of a puss on the river, but I dont see a lot good out of better here.
1) He may be on a missed draw, to which to dont see another dime.
2) He could have A w/ a weaker kicker, and you may get some value from betting
3) He could have a weak 2 pair and is afraid of Aces up or a set
4) He could have 2nd or 3rd pair
So, if you bet, you likely wont get a dime if you have him beat, and he will check raise you if he was slowplaying something.
Limit, I bet...NL, just check, you have already got good action out of your AK.

If the guy was chasing a runner-runner draw there's a good chance he hit it. I've always been opposed to thin value bets on the river. You stand to gain little or nothing by being correct. You stand to lose a lot by being wrong. You have no read on the guy and very little information on his hand.

Basically my thoughts as well. I was betting the whole time and with him just flat calling I was expecting a check/raise on the river.
Of course I was pissed at myself when he flipped over QJ. Calling down decent bets with 2nd pair and a weak kicker.

Remember this hand when you get beat in the same situation with a guy who turns over Q 9
