Have to admit to losing a lot, several times, when I've had the nut flush on a paired board only to walk in to a full house.
Is there any way to stop this from happening? Obviously I am aware of the f/h possibility when theres a pair on the board, but I normally just don't believe the other guy has it!
Its becoming probably my most costly mistake.
Any hints?

hard to say ... depending on the full house, if you're playing against good players there should be two types of full houses you're worried about
1. paired board + a set ... i.e. if you hold pocket 4's and the flop comes 4 10 10 ... this is the first type. with this you're obviously looking for a preflop limper who will likely slowplay this and try to get you to catch your flush. obviously if the player puts in a preflop raise and the board comes A 10 10, you should be scared of the possibility of the overfull, but your opponent may be playing AK ... its a judgement call
2. pocket cards make pair + trips i.e. QK in the hole with board of KKQ ... this one you'll usually be tipped off by a preflop raise to suggest two face cards ... so watch out for that ... also if you have a player who plays with suited connectors flops like 667 could be dangerous
nut flush vs. full house is hard to lay down, and most of the time you'll be caught with your pants down ... you can do all the analysis you want, but for the most part you're going to lose some money in this situation, the goal is just to lose as little as possible and conversely win as much as possible when you have the full house :D
