Last night I had a few of my friends over to play texas hold'em.
The buy in was 5 dollars, and the blinds were $.05/.10
About 2 hours into the game, I was the big blind and looked down at Jack 3 suited of . About 4 people limped in and I just checked. By this time I was down to about 3.50, not getting to many hands.
But then the flop came J 8 and 3 . Seeing this, I bet $.50 trying to push some people out just on a flush draw. Everyone else folded expect for the dealer. Then the turn came K . This time I bet $.75, thinking that he will fold now if he is still on the flush draw. He didn't fold, but instead he called. The river was a 4 . I'm thinking good, he missed his flush draw. So I bet $.25 thinking that's the most that he would call. I was wrong, he said all in right away. He had me covered, so I would have to go all in.
Once he said this I was so confused about what he could have. He missed his flush draw, and there was no chance for a straight. So after 3 minutes of thinking, I called. I flipped over my two pair. He flipped over his two pair, Ks and 4s.
As soon as I saw this, I could not believe it. He called the $.50 bet (x5 the big blind) with King high. And then hit runner runner on me.
Could there have been anything I did wrong? Or did this guy just not know what he was doing?

This guy obviously had no idea what he was doing, you played perfect poker and he sucked out on you, you should immediately have jumped to your feet, slammed the table and yelled at him how dumb he was, shouted the odds of his suckout and told him you have read books!
Alternatively you could invite them all back next week and play .50/1 instead? calling a flop with only K hi when the bet is $5 might just be enough to put him off.
