Hi, this is my first post.
Now I have read Geno's FAQ's and some other stuff, but there seems to be some contradiction even though I doubt there is.
So here is my dilemma:
Player 1: Q2
Player 2: Q3
River: Q K 7 10 4
Both players have a pair of Queens. However my friend said he won because he had 3 as his kicker compared to my 2. But I said I was using the K as my kicker and that it was a split pot because it was the second highest card available to both players.
He said I wasnt allowed to use it but had to use my pocket card as my kicker.
Who is right?
I was under the impression that you could use ANY of the seven cards available to make the best hand possible. And if you wanted to use a community card as your kicker you could.
So whats the deal?
Thanks for any help.

Best 5 cards, split pot, his 3 does NOT play.

Just to give you another response, your friend is wrong.

Or to put it yet another way....
Your hand is the best 5 cards from the 7 avaliable.
It's a split pot
Your friend is wrong.

Better still, ask your friend if he INSISTS on using his kicker, if he does, then take 100% of the pot since your QQK107 beats his QQK103

Strictly from the way you stated it, you're both wrong.
It's the fact that the second, third AND fourth kickers are all on the board that make it a split pot.
If one of you had an 8, for example, that would play.
Like everyone else said, best five cards.
