I just got back from a home game. Regular crowd. I have about 13 bucks in chips, other guy about 25. Villan is loose/aggresive. from what ive seen the past 4 games, he bluffs mostly on the turn.
Get dealt Q Q , 2 away from the button. All fold to me, and I raise 1 dollar(blinds were 25/50, 1 buck was standard raise) All fold except to him.
(Pot-3.25)
Flop- A Q rag
He checks, I bet 1.25 he calls.
I bet 1.25 because I didnt want to scare him out, and with 1/3 of a pot size bet it might seem like i want to take it down(i bluffed the last 3 pots i was in)
(Pot-5.75)
Turn- 8
He checks, I bet 4. He calls.
I was hoping to take it down right there. When he called, I put him on a pair of aces, with a strong kicker, probably a king.
(Pot-13.75)
River-10
He checks, I bet 2 bucks, he raises another 2. I realize he outdrew me, and reluctantly called. He showed the freaking straight. We later found out that he had a 2 outer to win, since 2 people each folded a 10.
Was my betting to weak? Did i give him the odds to call. Remeber that in his head he had a 4 outer. I'm pretty sure that I only gave him 3 to 1 odds for his money with the 1/3 pot size bet, but he still didnt have the reason to call it, since he had only 4 outs(unless my math is wrong)

gutshot straight draw needs very good odds ... something like 9 to 1 or 8 to 1 i think?
so no you didnt give him the right odds
i think the better way to play this in the future is to put more in before the flop, and after the flop ... id reccomend trying to slowly push your table raise to $2 preflop rather than $1.50 ... you have guys willing to chase a gutshot straight like that, then this shouldnt be hard to do ... after the flop at least half the pot if you're trying a slowplay trap type of play
your near pot size bet on the turn was nice ... i don't know why he called that bet

When he called that bet, I put him on Ace high kicker, king or a queen. Not even a jack I would put him on. Once he raised me on the river, I knew he chased it and caught it. That was the first time I've ever seen him chase that, with those odds. Oh well
