I play in a weekly game with newbs I repeat newbs who seem to catch every card that they need. But I'm not complaining about that. It's about 30 minutes into the game and I get QQ, suits don't matter here. I'm in middle position with 4 limpers behind me(again newbs) so I raise about 7xBB. Of course everyone at the table folds quicker than anything you've ever seen. But I get one caller, and this kid always thinks about calling for about 3 minutes when he has an Ace in his hand don't matter about kicker. So he does this and finally calls. Flop comes J 10 4. Fireworks going off right now in my head. I bet 1/2 the pot. He triples my raise. Now I know he has a J and I'm not worried about trips or 2 pair because even though he's a newb he probably would've slow played those hands. I go all-in. Thinks about it for a while and then finally starts talking. It's here that he tells me he knows I have an over pair. 10 seconds later he calls(has me covered) and flips over AJos. Turn-A. Yea that one stung a little bit. River-A. That's just overkill, I get knocked out.

You had him where you want him. He gambled and won. Nothing you can really do about it.

How many BBs did each of you have? The hand looks well played on your part. But without knowing what 7xBB is relative to your stack it's hard to say.

I'd have played it the same way.

I probably would have killed a dog (or some other equally irrational angry action) after that river though.

SuitedAces- IT was very early in the tourney and I had been playing very tight. Since it was early there were about 5 out of 6 players that had a pretty mediocre chip stack then what they started with and then there was one player who had a pretty big chip stack. I had been playing very tight and maybe called the BB pre-flop one hand and was the big blind maybe 2 times. So I had 8 less white chips then I started with.

Starting chips were:
White-$100-50
Blue/Red-$500-20
Pink-$1000-8

You put your chips in with the best hand as things stood and you lost. Its just part of the game unfortunately.

/Rant: Don't you hate when someone says I know what you have, "so and so overpair," but I'm gonna call anyways? Like either they go with their read in which most cases (provided he isn't getting odds to draw out) warrants a fold, or they don't go with their read and call. I just hate when someone says I know you have AA and then calls and spikes their 2-outer. /Rant
