My read on the villain was pretty good. The gem was when he reraised to allin (med stack) from the button against a rock (tall stack) in middle position with a short stack already allin between them. Villain 44, Rock KK, SS A9o.
I raised his flop bet as I read it as an attempt to buy a cheap turn for a possible flush into a raised pot, or a paired K and he was testing my hand. Maybe I should have been more suspicious of his turn bet, but would you have gotten away from this hand? I discounted high pocket pairs (for trips) because he didn't reraise preflop, so my read on the turn was 2 pair. Could I have made the JT read? Please critique my play.

I like your play - you didn't slowplay top two pair on the flop and made a solid raise. The moron with JTo never should have called for a gutshot. I don't think you can get away from the hand either.

I'd have played it the same, even the size of the raises.
He made bad calls from a bad position with bad odds.
With no other info I’d have put him on AJ or AT. I’d consider JT unlikely enough to just pay off.

I concur with all of the above - Tough beat.

One of those massively annoying players that I, personally, seem to come up against all the time.
Its like the word "fold" is not in their vocabulary.
Basically u were sucked out on by an idiot and there was nothing much u could do about it. Your play was fine, his play sucked and he won.
Nothing more to say...

you're too strong to fold here.

/agreed
Also, you've got outs for a full house on the river.
1) You were very strong
2) You played well
3) You even had outs left over in case he turned of JT
Bad beat, ouch.

He was an idiot to call the raise on the flop. That's just a bad beat, unfortunately.
