How big is your bank roll |
|

I am just curious what levels every one plays at.
For me, my average bank roll is sub $100. I keep a low buyin for a number of reasons.
First, I only started playing for real money on the internet since last August and I was suspicious of the legitimacy of internet poker sights. I am feeling much more comfortable that at least the BIG poker sights are legit.
My other reason for not going in big is that I am still a long term looser. I have reloaded four times now. While I have my ups and downs I still end up busting out in a couple of months of play (approximately 160 hours of table time). Why pay ten times the buy in for the same lessons?
I figure if I can’t sustain and slowly grow my small bankroll with .25/.50 games I don’t want to take it to the next level because I’ll just be loosing bigger amounts of money. I also have a bad habit of taking more risks with bigger stake games when my bankroll is higher then when I started (probably one the biggest holes in my game).
I don’t want to be a “professional” player but I want to be good enough to be a long term winner no matter what the stakes.

Usually I play $3/$6 and $100 NL live, and play tournaments that are $30 or less on the net. All told, my bankroll is a little under 2 grand.

My bankroll is about 4k. I play 2/4 limit (soon 3/6) and 20$ sit & go tournaments. Sometimes 1/2 7-card stud

Mine changes. Most of my bankroll is still tied up in my main sports betting site. I play a lot of my poker there but I also use the same bankroll for all my sports bets so its hard to put an accurate figure on just my poker money.
I play for buy in's of anything up to £50. Don't go above that and play a lot of £5, £10 and £20 sngs so my bankroll doesn't really have to be huge anyway.

My money is tied up on alot of sites right now and I have more in some and less in others. Due to that, the stakes I play range from .50/1 to 2/4 limit games. I keep my bankroll currently at a little over 1k.
As for not wanting to deposit big because you aren't a consistent winner, I agree with this 100%. My first deposit was $100, I played the .25/.50 limit games until I could afford to cashout my original $100 + $50 for pokertracker and left myself with a $75 bankroll. I've just grown it from there without depositing anymore of my own money.

I try and keep my roll between $400-$800. I don't play any specific game. Usually MTTs for up $50 buy-ins.
Posted Sun Jul 03, 2005 5:22 am GMT by jonesyb
mine is about $30.
i am building this up to $50 in the .02/.04 NL ring games while i find my feet. then when i have that i will move up to the .5/.10 NL ring games... and so on... etc... you get the idea.
i am a high roller so don't mess.

Mine is usually around the $150 mark... Its beginning to bug me now, because whenever i start building it up to the $200 mark, i take a few losses and before i know it im back down to $100 again... I play:
$5+$10 SnG's
MTTs with buyin's of $10 and less
.10/.20 or .25/.50 NL ring games.

My bankroll started out more like a budget. £20 a month to blow having fun, which was all I considered poker to be. Just like getting p*ssed with mates or going to the cinema, it was entertainment and I expected nothing more.
But over time my game’s improved and slowly it's passed the point of being self sustaining.
Now I’m in a situation very similar to improv. I want to build up a stake so I can move up a level but I’m finding it very slow going since I just don’t have the time to play very often. This means I get very annoyed when I lose because I think, damn that’s another buy-in I have to deduct from my next win.

I cash $1000 out everytime I hit $2000. So I'm always somewhere in between. If anyone is interested in using my 'Secret Bankroll Management System' send me a check for $40 and you can get started!

I started my bankroll with $250 at a local cash game (won $600 that nite); and got it up to $1600 over a small amount of time and from then on it my bankroll hovered around ~$2500 playing live cash games and online. However I had some REALLY REALLY good nites in the local cash game and cashed out my $2100 online (my enitire bankroll because playin online is a disease IMO). I saw that I made more playin live cash games and decided to do that only and my bankroll stays around ~$6-$7K playin only live games which has been amazing being a college student that about a year ago use to think $20 tourneys with friends was big money.
A few weeks ago was my biggest take home in a cash game; we play NL $200 max buy- in then you can reload for the biggest stack. Anyways I started off like that and was drinkin red bull and vodka the whole nite getting wasted which has worked out well twice. I ended up being in the game for $1000 just adding to my stack even though I wasnt that low stacked (just wanted to have basically as many chips as leader). Well when the game was over about 4:30 am; I cashed out $2485. I was so drunk I was min raising $300 bets and playin what was like a pro what felt like to me thanks to the drinks ....I think about that nite all the time...still amazes me.
And if you ask me I am glad I gave up online poker
sorry for the long wirte:
short answer $6-$7K

Currently I'm right around $600 playing 10$ Sngs, $1-10$ MTTs, and 10NL.

Danger. Just out of curiousity though, how do you find the play? Have you ever consistantly played 10NL?
Posted Wed Jul 05, 2006 3:20 pm GMT by shorn7
I have been playing for about 2 years now and have worked my way up from the $0.50/$1.00 NL tables to $5/$10. I occassionally dabble in the $10/$20 games if they look really good, but that is rare.
I play on a bunch of sites...Absolute, Party, Interpoker. I go where the fish be on any given night.
Posted Wed Jul 05, 2006 3:57 pm GMT by supafrey
very nice.
I don't have the stones to play 5/10nl. I have the roll for it, though, if i get curious.

My bankroll right now is $180. I just cashed out about a little over a week ago I beleive it was and left $50 in. So so far I have built it up $130 from what I had. This is all profit as I cashed out my original investment many months ago.
Now I want to build up to shorns, TS1988 or suitedaces bankroll levels... ...but I think I need to step up a level or 10 to do that...

As much as I realize that a chip is a chip is a chip, 1k is enough for a vacation or a nice computer. I can't just be tossing those away 3 or 4 at a time.

Ain't that the truth. I couldn't even bring myself to stay at 400 NL, hence my decision to put away my money and drop down to 2/4 and 3/6 Limit... let's see how long it takes to get back up to 5k.

I would encourage you guys to not move until u are comfortable, because the swings can be tough. This past weekend, I was down as much as $1k and up as much as $3200 in 4 days, ending up around $700 over 20 or so hours of play. So, u can hit patches that are very tough.
That being said, I think it might be smart for you to perhaps open a $5/$10 table on Friday or Saturday night when you are playing and observe the play. There are some games that are very easy at the level...u just have to watch for them. I think many of the folks on this site could be winning players at the level if they could stomach the swings.
Anyway, there is nothing wrong with finding a comfort level that u can dominate and printing $$ there. For me, $5/$10 NL seems to be it.

Yes i know the danger of being severely underrolled for 25NL, but I'm very comfortable at that level. My worst day this month I was down $5 for the day. I'm a true slow steady grinder.
I find the play to be fairly passive. It's the lowest level on Party, so I'd guess most of the players are under rolled.
I do however wait until I have 20 buy ins before playing 50NL
I didn't like the wildness of the PStars micro limits, just because I couldn't really get a read on my own performance. The 10NL wasn't so bad, but 25NL on Party is easier than 10NL on Stars.

Having 20 buy-ins for $10NL is enough.

1 or 2 buy-ins is anything but a swing tbh
